‘Star Wars’ Actor Responds Perfectly To ‘Black Stormtrooper’ Criticism
Meanwhile in ‘post-racial’ America, some people took issue with Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens because it features a black stormtrooper.
For reals.
John Boyega, the actor seen just 20 seconds into the clip playing a stormtrooper sans helmet, posted a subtle comeback to the critics on Instagram, Mashable reports.
Boyega handled it well and even included a smiley face for the haters.
He wrote, “Thank you for all the love and support! The fan mail and fan art has added to my joy! Isn’t it crazy that Star Wars is actually happening?”
“I’m in the movie but as a star wars fan I am very excited! A year is a long time but it will be worth the wait,” he added.
“To whom it may concern…Get used to it. :)”

LRT: I mean come on, there has to be a point where you complain about a black Stormtrooper and then think “wow even for me that’s racist” — slowbeef (@slowbeef) November 28, 2014

If Samuel Jackson can play the leader of the Jedi, I see no problem with a black stormtrooper. After all, we really don’t know if the Sith are as bad as they say since history is written by the winners. What would really be cool is if the main character in this movie is a female. (For a change.)

We have Billy Dee Williams and Samuel L Jackson in several SW movies so people need to chill on the black issue!

Wait a minute! Are these twitter people suggesting that blacks don’t act? I guess Denzel Washington, Eddie Murphy and a whole host of other talented folks didn’t get that memo.

Did any 1 stop and consider, maybe the original trilogy was racist and maybe that’s ok? You could make a pretty convincing case that star wars has always been subtly racist. I’ve never heard anyone draw a comparison between the concept of the force and hindu/buddhist beliefs, darth Vaders samurai style kabuto helmet, or even Japanese words dooku = poison and then the almost complete lack of a Asian jedi. I’ve known this shit for the better part of the decade and it still doesn’t stop me from loving the original star wars. I guess i’m hoping in vain that social justice may one day realize that just because something may be subtly racist that doesn’t make it inherently bad and it can still be entertaining but unfortunately to sjws diversity and tolerance mean having the same exact opinions on all race issues as social justice. Just a thought. I’m getting tired of seeing all of these movie critics using the quote “just get over it” fuck you what right do you have to tell the actual fans how to feel about social justice being forcefully injected into our life long obsession that literally would not exist without our decades of support.
