Oklahoma Man Accidentally Fatally Shot, Killed At Family Thanksgiving
A family gathering in Oklahoma turned into tragedy after what is described as an “accidental shooting” during a Thanksgiving celebration.
30-year-old Robert Brown was suffering from a single gunshot wound when officers arrived at the home around 2:00 p.m. Thursday, police say.
Brown died after being transported to a local hospital.
“At this time the investigation is ongoing. It appears to be an accidental shooting, the investigation will be turned over to the attorney generals office to make a determination on where to go,” Claremore Police Capt. Milburn Litterell said.
It’s not clear if Brown and the person who shot him are related, but Litterell says the shooting appears to be accidental.
“We’re dealing with a lot of family members. It’s a terrible day,” Litterell said.
“Any time we respond to a call this serious where someone has been seriously injured or someone is dead, we will investigate it thoroughly to make sure we’re being told the correct story,” LItterell said.

because it has always made sense to share a thanksgiving meal with a gun at the head
of the table. Jackasses.

I fail to comprehend how anyone would want to own or handle a deadly weapon, without wanting to learn to use it properly.
No one should be allowed to own a firearm until they pass a course on how to use it, clean it, and store it safely.
It’s just common sense. You’d think those who worship the Second Amendment would agree to that. It’s what the Framers meant by “well-regulated”.

I am certain that alcohol and/or testosterone had nothing to do with it.

remember the incident that just happened with the 4 and 3 year olds? the “father” was “trained” in guns and its “safety” but the baby was still shot by the other. and the cop whose son shot the gun while in the “fathers” pocket in McDonalds. so much for training. it all boils down to common sense.

This is what you get from guns everywhere all the time.
I will repeat myself for the umpteen billionth time. More guns in society do not make us safer. More guns in society make us more likely to be the victim of a negligent gun owner.
Why in the heck does anyone need to have a gun at the ready during a family Thanksgiving gathering?

“Youth and Accidental Shootings: Over 1,300 victims of unintentional shootings for the period 2005–2010 were under 25 years of age.
For kids ages 5 to 14, the mortality rate is 14 times higher in high gun ownership states than low gun ownership states. For infants and toddlers, ages 0 to 4, the mortality rate is 17 times higher in high gun ownership states than low gun ownership states.
The majority of people killed in firearm accidents are under age 24, and most of these young people are being shot by someone else, usually someone their own age. The shooter is typically a friend or family member, often an older brother.”

Thanksgiving? With accidental gun deaths averaging about 600 a year, its just another day in America.
M D Reese November 29th, 2014 at 18:14
It might spike with all those families getting together, and the road rage with all the traffic–and of course the shopping wars.

“Any time we respond to a call this serious where someone has been seriously injured or someone is dead, we will investigate it thoroughly to make sure we’re being told the correct story.” Wow. They obviously set a very high police work standard there in Claremore, Oklahoma.

I guess if they just put out an eye or something, they’ll take their word for it…
