Rudy Giuliani Reinforces Racial Stereotypes On ‘Meet The Press’

The decision by Governor Jay Nixon (D-MO) to declare a state of emergency in his state ahead of the grand jury decision in the killing of Michael Brown has been a hot topic this week, and resulted in a very clarifying moment on NBC’s Meet The Press Sunday morning. In discussing cities with disproportionately white police forces, giuliani decided to change the subject to, what else, so-called “black-on-black crime,” a favorite hobby horse of police apologists, but one which is usually played for concern-trolling effect. Not this time.

Giuliani brought up the statistic that 93% of black homicide victims are killed by black people, and wondered why this doesn’t sufficiently distract people from caring when cops kill unarmed black people. “I would like to see the attention paid to that that you are paying to this, and the solutions so to that,” Giuliani said.

Panelist and Georgetown University Professor Michael Eric Dyson quickly pointed out the false equivalence at work there, given that “most black people who commit crimes against black people go to jail,” and that  “they are not sworn by the police department as an agent of the state to uphold the law.”

That’s when Giuliani, straining to get his racist words in edgewise, explicitly exposed the white police state’s philosophy: that black communities, that black people, are inherently criminal…READ MORE

Let’s also not discuss how few warnings there have been to the white instigator’s who threaten violence against Ferguson citizens and supporters who may show up to protest the grand jury decision.

I can’t say I’ve heard one word of caution (about KKK members threatening violence) from any officials.
      Not that I’m surprised.

IKR??? The KKK and the rest of the fringe crazies get a pass and the Ferguson residents and supporters may as well be called terrorists!

If I remember correctly… 87% of whites homicides are committed by other whites, people tend to be killed by those they associate with.

Why do white people insist on defending their ethnicity, as if they’ve suffered because since well, the beginning of time? Hey butt-hat Giuliani, white on white crime is 83%. But I’m sure the math averse would just look at that simple percentage, and not the ethnic population ratio as a factor.

I seen that interview this morning and it sickened me, I never liked Giuliani but I understood he had worked hard to make NYC safer than it was when I was growing up. However, how can a person who was the Mayor of that great city have such racist comments coming out of his mouth? He was not talking like that when he ran for Mayor, however he is now (I am willing to bet) running for President and he needs to be voted for by people who share these vile beliefs so he is catering to the far right and he will be staying on that ship as it sinks into the abyss.

We should all take responsibility for our own troubles and stop trying to blame someone else. Until we as a society learn to do that nothing will change.

So Giuliani seems to be using crime statistics to falsely stereotype African Americans.
It is easy to see how racist this is.
It was only a couple weeks ago, maybe less, that pretty much the same argument was put forth in the Religion Forum in order to use the crime stats to falsely stereotype Christians.
It’s the same bigotry using basically the same argument, yet, even after pointing it out a few times, I don’t recall anyone else seeing it as clearly as we see this one.
Bigotry is bigotry, regardless of the target, and regardless of whether the one doing it is one of our own on the Left or someone on the Right.

Obviously, Rooty still has aspirations of running for president and is seeking to improve his position in the Right Wing Dunce Contest. The judges have decided this most recent batch of stupidity earns Rooty a significant lap upward in the standings, from 16th place to 13th place.
