Network Anchors Have Been Meeting With Darren Wilson

It was revealed today on “Reliable Sources” with CNN’s Brian Stelter that “high-profile news anchors” have spoken in “secret locations” with Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson, the man who shot Michael Brown dead.

The meetings have reportedly been off-the-record.

Wilson has been elusive since the shooting death of the unarmed teenager. In fact, he has not been seen in public or on his social media accounts. He hasn’t shown up in court for arrests that he’s made. His family has kept quiet after the shooting.

The Washington Post reports:

Some details exist. NBC News’s Matt Lauer, ABC News’s George Stephanopoulos, CBS News’s Scott Pelley and Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon of CNN have met with Wilson, according to Stelter.

“Because it was off the record, those anchors can’t talk about the meetings and the networks can’t even confirm that they happened,” Stelter notes.

For just about any other story, this would be standard television ritual, no big deal. In off-the-record negotiations, networks commonly court all kinds of interview “gets” — celebrities, athletes, scholars and unintentional public figures like Wilson himself. Someone secures the exclusive and goes on a PR blitz, and the losers sulk.

I’m curious as to how journalist have access to an inaccessible man who is at the center of a highly publicized case.

Well of course they have. How else will they keep their stories straight.

After all, he’s had 3 months to get his story together so why not?

That’s the f’ing sad part of this now. So much time has passed and I am still up in arms with the vague autopsy reports.

We’ll never know the truth at this point.

There was an independent autopsy done by one of the best forensic autopsy doctors. There are various videos showing what happened. The truth is already out there. The issue is whether the grand jury will use the real evidence or the nonsense provided by the Ferguson police department and the district poobahs.

I’ve heard people still hyping the picture alleged to be of Darren Wilson in the hospital with a battered face, which of course wasn’t even him. It was a professional snowboarder or some such who had crashed.

The fix is in. The only question is which lazy ass, but rich network, will have this pathetic excuse for a policeman on for their ratings boost?

    • M D Reese November 23rd, 2014 at 21:13

They’ll probably choose CNN for the gravitas…

Yup, Wolf Blitzer is the preferred choice for pretend big news.

There will be no justice for Michael Brown…

the jennings police department taught him well and before that his mother taught him well…he learned to be quiet, sneaky, racist and how to hurt others

I don’t believe he met with reporters. I wouldn’t want any of you on my jury if I had to be judged. None of us has seen the evidence, yet you’ve all decided that you know what happened.

    • Kick Frenzy November 23rd, 2014 at 20:29

So all the reporters are lying?
It’s a big conspiracy to… what… stick their tongues out at people who thought they were telling the truth?
Maybe they’re just trying to hype viewer numbers by saying they might have something for them to watch at some unknown point in the future?

I wouldn’t want you on a jury judging me either, as your reasoning skills seem to be lacking.

(And we do know some of what happened, like Mike Brown was shot multiple times, including the final kill shot towards the back of the head.)

      • M D Reese November 23rd, 2014 at 21:12

Of course, the eyewitnesses were all black, so they were ignored until finally they found a couple of white guys who said the same thing…

      • Matt Dillon November 24th, 2014 at 07:18

Reason says that a man that may or may not be charged and prosecuted for a crime is not going to interview with the media before he knows what will happen. Do you think a lawyer would advise him to do that?

        • Kick Frenzy November 25th, 2014 at 00:18

He didn’t go for an interview.
He went to discuss whether he would do an interview with them.

And yet the white afflicted still treat Wilson as the victim here. In the meantime, this cop got the shaft for protecting himself and got the opposite treatment by his own police force. #Crickets

OP: “I’m curious as to how journalist have access to an inaccessible man who is at the center of a highly publicized case.”

Oh, shoot, they’ll contact the guy’s lawyer, they’ll put letters through the mail slot in his door or in his mailbox, they’ll ask friends or family members to let him know they’re interested, all kinds of stuff.

Someone must have needed to fill space rather than just have a blank white page.
