Jay Leno To Perform At ‘The SHOT Show’ Just One Month After Newtown Anniversary
On Tuesday Jan. 20th — 37 days after the second anniversary of the deaths of 20 six-year-olds inside Sandy Hook Elementary School — Jay Leno will be performing at the 2015 “SHOT Show” State of the Industry Dinner in Las Vegas.
Those attending with be “treated to an evening recognizing the important accomplishments” of the gun industry.
I know that you’re as excited as I am, after all, the gun industry has brought us so much joy.
The Newtown Action Alliance is calling on Leno to cancel his appearance. They describe how the NSSF has done exactly nothing to reach out to the victims of Newtown despite being in the same town.
NSSK President Steve Sanetti has, however, referred to the families working for gun reform as reacting “emotionally” and irrationally because they are “angry” and “fearful.”
IKR? Silly puny humans acting all human-y! Instead of concerning themselves with making buckets and buckets of cash for the gun industry, those working for gun reform are simply interested in keeping kids alive. How stupid. Stop being so “emotional” over dead children. Pfft!
“His comedy touches on topics for audiences of all ages,” the announcement reads.
Hey Jay, did you hear the one about 20 kids being shot to death?
Moms Demand Action heard that one and they are not amused.
Is it a money thing? That’s doubtful.
Or he could just get back into one of his fancy cars, cancel the event, and go back home.
It’s not too late to change your mind, Jay.
Please use the #JokesOnLeno hashtag.
Big thanks to my source whose anonymity shall be respected here.

So when would be a good time to host the dinner?
jasperjava November 19th, 2014 at 16:41
A show about glorifying instruments of death, celebrating the massacre of little children and laughing in the face of grieving parents?
How about never?
R.J. Carter November 19th, 2014 at 16:44
Oh, that’s what it’s about. Are they having cakes made in that realistic airbrushed-fondant method, so they look like the bodies as part of their “celebrating the massacre of little children”?

I wouldn’t put it past them.
jasperjava November 19th, 2014 at 18:49
They’ll be smearing the blood of actual dead children all over each other. That’s during the apéritif.

I would actually expect better of you after seeing your postings for many months. If you are going to go off the deep end, at least get it right. Desert !!!!! Not an aperitif, Desert !!!!

I heard that ferguson is blowing up, can you update us? stay safe

Six arrested last night, but there are still usually more reporters at a protest than actual protesters. I think Sunday is the anticipated announcement date. Me, I’m hoping that Sunday afternoon Ferguson is a crowd of reporters, shivering and holding coffee cups, desperately wandering around for something to film.

Thanks for the update, I saw people sitting in the road, I bet they were the ones arrested for impeding traffic.

I think Jay should perform and there is no reason for him not to. By trying to get Jay to back out, is nothing more then the MOMS referring back to “Bully” Tactics.
We all morned for those children. the blood wasn’t even dry before the calls for banning certain firearms went out. here in NJ, when are disillusioned legislators tried to pass some really feel good, do nothing legislation, they paraded those parents around like a dog and pony show.

“We all morned for those children.”
You did, I did. Noticeably absent from those moments of grief were gun lobbyists and that includes the NRA whose Facebook page was removed that day (later reinstated) and their Twitter account went silent.
Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" November 19th, 2014 at 19:44
I can actually understand that for the reason sometimes it is better to be silent then to actually say anything. Especially when you thin of the nature of the issue.
Anomaly 100 November 20th, 2014 at 06:03
By the way, Leno cancelled so I think he now understands the sensitive nature of pimping for gun lobbyists from Newtown who had the audacity to refer to others as “emotional” just after the slaughter of 20 little kids.

poor gun nuts, feeling bullied by moms using their words instead of guns to express themselves
