CNN Host To Alleged Rape Victim: Why Didn’t You Just Bite Cosby’s Penis Off?
It’s really nice when men explain to women how to not get raped, don’t you think? For example, Don Lemon explained to actress Joan Tarshis, who alleges that Bill Cosby raped her in 1969, that all she had to do was bite his penis off.
Via Media Matters:
LEMON: Can I ask you this, because — and please, I don’t mean to be crude, OK?
TARSHIS: Yeah.
LEMON: Because I know some of you — and you said this last night, that he — you lied to him and said “I have an infection, and if you rape me, or if you do — if you have intercourse with me, then you will probably get it and give it to your wife.”
TARSHIS: Right.
LEMON: And you said he made you perform oral sex.
TARSHIS: Right.
LEMON: You — you know, there are ways not to perform oral sex if you didn’t want to do it.
TARSHIS: Oh. Um, I was kind of stoned at the time, and quite honestly, that didn’t even enter my mind. Now I wish it would have.
LEMON: Right. Meaning the using of the teeth, right?
TARSHIS: Yes, that’s what I’m thinking you’re —
LEMON: As a weapon.
TARSHIS: Yeah, I didn’t even think of it.
LEMON: Biting. So, um —
TARSHIS: Ouch.
LEMON: Yes. I had to ask. I mean, it is, yeah.
TARSHIS: Yes. No, it didn’t cross my mind.
Watch:
That’s right ladeeeees, if you don’t bite it off, it’s your own fault for being raped.

I really don’t think this was blaming her for not doing that.
It seems closer to him thinking how that would work to her advantage and decided he just had to ask her about it.
He probably didn’t have any angle in mind besides snickering like a schoolboy over the idea of someone biting off a penis.
It’s not like it isn’t the most common thought of method of dealing with unwanted oral sex.
May not have been proper for TV and possibly was more for the ratings of CNN, but he doesn’t sound like he’s blaming her.
At least not to me.

It was stupid to say, specifically on air.
I also understand that a lot of people, mostly guys I imagine, would think that the biting scenario is a valid and good idea.
It wouldn’t occur to many of them that doing so could result in a seriously violent reaction, at least not right away… not in time to stop some from saying “You could have bit it off”.
Stupid, yes.
Offensive, not really.

This guy deserves a very pink slip, for being a complete fucktard on-air.

now he’s apologizing for his remarks. what never amazes me is that they always say dumb sh’t on air as if they are talking in private, that it must be ok because look who i am. then when someone calls them out, its oh, sorry. (but not really)
