North Carolina police say a 13-year-old boy is dead after a gun discharged in a hotel room and the bullet went through a wall into another room, hitting the teen, ABC 11 reports.

The shooting happened around 11:00 p.m. Friday at a Comfort Suites hotel.

42-year-old Randall Louis Vater has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The victim, an 8th grader, was identified as Nathan Andrew Clark of Lewisville, N.C.

Clark was in Raleigh to play in the Capital Area Soccer League (CASL) which has since been cancelled  by his team.

Some of the kids on the team were also staying in the hotel when the incident happened, according to ABC 11.

CASL released the following statement:

“We awoke this morning with great sadness to the unsettling news that Nathan Clark tragically lost his life late Friday night. Our thoughts and prayers are with Nathan’s family and to his extended soccer family: the North Carolina Fusion players, parents, and coaches. We find some solace knowing that a man has been charged in connection with this incident. However, we can only imagine the pain and sorrow the Clark family is experiencing in the wake of this tragedy. We respect their wishes for privacy during this difficult time.”

Clark attended the Calvary Baptist Day School in Winston-Salem. He was described as fun loving, energetic, and brought a joy and a special spark to the soccer team, by his coach.

“Heaven gained an amazing young man today. Nathan will be greatly missed by the whole Calvary soccer family. We love you Nathan,” Coach Kerth said.

    “accidental discharge” of a firearm…
Not to be confused with nocturnal emissions..(no one gets killed)

Wanna bet this “convicted felon” bought his gun either at a gun show or through some personal independent sale on line?…
But dont let that stand in the way of the NRA protecting the right to buy and sell guns to anyone without a background check.

You cannot buy a gun online without a BG check.

Sure. You can arrange a sale over the internet and meet with someone face to face without a BG check. To actually buy a gun over the internet legally you have to involved a FFL individual or gun dealer. The gun has to be shipped from and to a FFL or gun dealer, once received by the FFL or gun dealer the buyer has to submit to a BG check and be cleared for possession before the gun is released to them.

but, if you are a felon, then he’s right. he’s not talking about a legal sale. aside from that, one can always get someone without a felony charge on their record to get the gun legally for them. if a felon wants his hands on a weapon, he’ll surely find a way to get it.

“Under federal law, people with felony convictions forfeit their right to bear arms. Yet every year, thousands of felons across the country have those rights reinstated, often with little or no review. In several states, they include people convicted of violent crimes, including first-degree murder and manslaughter, an examination by The New York Times has found. While previously a small number of felons were able to reclaim their gun rights, the process became commonplace in many states in the late 1980s, after Congress started allowing state laws to dictate these reinstatements — part of an overhaul of federal gun laws orchestrated by the National Rifle Association. The restoration movement has gathered force in recent years, as gun rights advocates have sought to capitalize on the 2008 Supreme Court ruling that the Second Amendment protects an individual’s right to bear arms.”

For those who think being a convicted felon automatically means they are prohibited from owning a gun no matter what…..

Another useless death of an 8-year old boy in savage America. This a direct result of a complete lack of culture and sense of humanity among the american populace. specifically when still bickering over some retarded second amendment and absurd arguments pertaining to the imaginary safety and the imbecile claimed component of self defense. American men are weak looking for nothing else but a penile enlargement in their state of wide-spread obesity and absent social skills unable to cope with an appetite to intimidate one another now with an enhanced star of manhood. Useless.
