Image Of The Day: Protesters Mock Climate Change Deniers
With their heads literally stuck in the sand, more than 400 protesters in Australia mocked the government’s reluctance to put climate change on the agenda of a G20 summit this weekend.
Prime Minister Tony Abbott’s perceived failure to address climate change is all the more galling in the wake of an agreement between the United States and China on Wednesday to limit their carbon emissions, they said.
“Obama’s on board, Xi Jinping’s on board, everyone’s on board except one man,” activist Pat Norman, 28, bellowed into a megaphone on the Sydney beach.
“Tony Abbott!” the protesters shouted back.
“Wiggle ya bums if you feel like it,” was shouted over the megaphone.
Abbott called climate change science “crap” in 2009 and said coal was “good for humanity”. Australia repealed a tax on greenhouse gas emissions in July, the only country to reverse action on climate change.
Justin Field, 36, a former army intelligence officer who is running for a seat in state parliament for the Green Party, said
Australia had to act.
“To be so far behind the rest of the developed world embarrasses progressive Australia,” Field said.
We understand how you feel. Perhaps if Obama became a climate change denier, Republicans would suddenly accept the scientific data that manmade climate change is a reality.
Via NASA:
“Observations throughout the world make it clear that climate change is occurring, and rigorous scientific research demonstrates that the greenhouse gases emitted by human activities are the primary driver.”
That comes from 18 different scientific associations.

And the damage the Aussies are doing to the Great Barrier Reef by dredging for their export of coal will cause further harm to the oceans.

I loves me a nice creative protest, even if it is for a cause I don’t care for (this one I do).
I would be fine if I never again saw footage of a protest with the same tired old chants, like one that begins “Hey-Hey! Ho-Ho!”
I say hey hey, ho ho, that stupid chant has got to go.
Same with any chant that involves math.
Please, no more counting chants, like the one that begins, “One! Two! Three! Four!”, as in “One! Two! Three! Four! The GOP’s a chancre sore!”
Well, five six seven eight, your chant is one I really hate.

I honestly wonder if it’s true denial of if the average person just doesn’t want to make the sacrifice necessary and is embarrassed to say so. Many skeptics may feel things will be fine during their lifetime, let someone in the future deal with it.
