Jobs Up, Unemployment Down–AGAIN, Another Reason Democrats Fumbled

Posted by | November 7, 2014 09:13 | Filed under: Economy Good News Politics Top Stories

Instead of heralding the continually improving economy, Democrats have stayed silent, and that’s why Tuesday was a terrible day for them. They earned their losses.

The U.S. created 214,000 jobs in October, nudging the unemployment rate down a notch to 5.8%, as many companies added workers to gear up for the holiday season. The economy has now added 200,000 workers or more for nine straight months, a feat last accomplished in 1994. Economists polled by MarketWatch had expected a seasonally adjusted gain of 243,000 nonfarm jobs. So far in 2014 the U.S. has gained an average of 229,000 jobs a month, the fastest pace since 1999…

The labor-force participation rate, meanwhile, edged up to 62.8% from 62.7% as more people looked for work. Employment gains for September and August were revised up by a combined 31,000. The government said the 256,000 new jobs were created in September, up from a preliminary 248,000. August’s gain was raised to 203,000 from 180,000.

And the wingers are out there still saying that these numbers are rigged. I’ll bet dollars to donuts come after the first week of January, where if these numbers remain true, the GOP and their media bots and drones will be taking credit for it.

Republicans will have to take credit for it -up or down, they hold the purse strings that fuel the economy. Meanwhile, if Republicans have had a ‘change of heart’ since Mitch’s chest thumping about what they are going to do for themselves two days ago, they may want to start chasing down the many many millions of dollars that disappeared at the 1st BENGHAZI hearing and put it back in the US Treasury. If you were the POTUS, do you think you’d be able to trust them if they don’t? – I wouldn’t.

Democratic Party candidates and leaders still don’t know how to talk to Americans. They don’t know how to tell stories that resonate. As far as I could tell from the 10 million or so email solicitations I received from the DCCC, the party’s message was “Republicans are scary.” Democratic Party voters already dislike Republicans, so that’s not much of a message. The Republican Party’s message was, “Vote for us and we’ll protect you from ISIS, Ebola, Obamacare, blah blah blah,” a gigantic, Porterhouse-sized piece of bull, but one that White America desperately wanted to hear. The Democratic Party better find someone out there among the party faithful — preferably someone *not* in the game right now, who’s not vested in the party’s dominant narratives — who can teach them how to talk.

It angers me that the Dems made very few (if any) comments about the successes of the Obama presidency during their campaigns. There have been many successes but Dems have distanced themselves for whatever reason and alienated the president (lame duck or no lame duck). Makes me question whether Dems are sincere about moving the country forward or creating an extended quagmire (no legislation)….

makes me wonder if maybe there’s some back room dealings going on to open some new offshore bank accounts in Dubai – we’ll know soon enough if Republicans start pushing for troops back in the middle east with little to no resistance from the Democrats. If ISIS is near the treat they’re pumped up to be, nuke ’em; if not, just STFO.

      • crc3 November 7th, 2014 at 10:49

Eventually nukes are going to be used in war. It’s just a matter of when and where. I’d say somewhere in the Middle East but it also could be in Russia or Korea. In any case humanity is headed for mass destruction and the clock is ticking…

        • fahvel November 7th, 2014 at 11:47

not russia and not korea – who’s left?

          • crc3 November 7th, 2014 at 13:54

Not Russia or Korea? Really? I think both of them will be in the middle of a nuclear exchange if we use nukes in the Middle East (even tactical nukes)…

The dem candidates made the mistake of letting the repubs set the narrative, instead of focusing on the economy. No matter what anyone says the housing market is up and unemployment is down. The House has blocked Obama on everything and w/o their help he turned the bush mess around.

Elections have consequences. The voters clearly repudiated Obama. Change you can believe in is on the way…..

    • OldLefty November 7th, 2014 at 15:09

So if the election with 36% turnout clearly repudiated Obama, did the election with 58% turnout clearly repudiate Republicans?

      • arc99 November 7th, 2014 at 15:32

yes. funny how right wingers would have us believe that elections are repudiations of the losing party only when the GOP wins.

        • OldLefty November 7th, 2014 at 15:49

And the whole strategy from 2008 was repudiate the American People, rule as the minority, bring about the inability to pass legislation, in order to anger voters, who pay little attention and would blame Obama would take the blame, because people would hold the one president, not the 535 members of Congress, responsible for
          gridlock.

They remind me of the Leslie Nelson Police squad scene where, in a shoot out, the bad guy grabs an innocent little old lady to use as a shield, and so Det Drebin, ALSO grabs an innocent little old lady to use as a shield.

Of course it’s funny because in reality, the police are at the disadvantage, because they cannot be so reckless and endanger innocent civilians.

The GOP also were not at any such disadvantage.

Every 4 months the Obama Admin creates 1 M+ private jobs vs GWB’s 1.08 M private jobs created during all 8 years of Cheney’s Admin!

Change you can believe in from serial liars; now there’s a paradox.

Every 4 months the Obama Admin creates 1 M+ private jobs vs GWB’s 1.08 M private jobs created during all 8 years of Cheney’s Admin! CBO says 70% of the Obama Admin jobs were created by the Obama/Dems 60% Jobs Stimulus.

11 million+ private jobs created in 56 consecutive months is a new U.S. record! The Obama Jobs record is 11 times greater, than GWB’s 8 year 1.08 M private jobs created.
