8:30amEST
Alan has a wrap-up of the undecided races. Even though MSNBC called Warner the apparent winner, Virginia remains officially uncalled, as does Alaska. Gubernatorial races in Vermont, Connecticut, and Colorado also have yet to be called officially.

Overnight
North Dakota “personhood” initiative has been defeated.

12:02amEST
MD-Gov: In usually-blue Maryland, Republican Larry Hogan is projected to win.

We’re calling it a night; still a few races to be determined. See y’all on hangover Wednesday.

More pizza.

Oy.

10:17pmEST:

WY-Gov – Incumbent Republican Matt Mead is projected to win.
NM-Gov – Incumbent Republican Susanna Martinez is projected to win.

Omaha World Herald projects that the Nebraska initiative to raise the minimum wage will pass.

9:37pmEST:
LA-Sen – Political junkies, rejoice!! MSNBC projects that the race is going to a runoff; Democrat Mary Landrieu and Republican Bill Cassidy will face off. This is one night I wish Dan Rather were anchoring… (CNN didn’t call it until 9:45pmEST.)

9:22pmEST:
OK-Gov – Republican Mary Fallin is projected to win.

9:15pmEST
NE-Gov – Republican Pete Ricketts is projected to win.

7:30pmEST: Two non-surprises.
WV-Sen – Republican Shelley Moore Capito projected to win.

SC-Sen Special Election – Republican Tim Scott projected to win.

7:19pmEST: MSNBC’s Ed Schultz is reporting that Florida gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist‘s campaign have filed a motion to extend voting hours in Broward County (can you say late polling place openings and the smell of voting machines “misbehaving”?). Schultz: “Neither side is talking about a victory… they have already surpassed the 2010 turnout!”

7:05pmEST: SC-Gov – No surprise, CNN projects Nikki Haley will be reelected.

7pmEST: KY-Sen – CNN projects Mitch McConnell wins. Sadly, it looks like the final numbers will not even be close.

Just heard some second-hand info that Jean Shaheen is reelected in New Hampshire Senate race, according to ABC news.

    Scott Brown loses again.

    Can anybody confirm?

    • tiredoftea November 4th, 2014 at 20:47

Yes, 538 called it for her.

    • tracey marie November 4th, 2014 at 20:48

yes, scott will now look for a new state to troll and try and make money

  4. tracey marie November 4th, 2014 at 20:47

No surprise the panhandle gave scott a bump, but the polls there are closed. Crist should win the south and central areas excluding palm beach…IMHO

    • arc99 November 4th, 2014 at 20:49

yeah, last I heard they have not even started counting the votes from Miami-Dade which is heavily Democratic.

      • Anomaly 100 November 4th, 2014 at 20:51

        SWEET!

      • tracey marie November 4th, 2014 at 20:59

texas is so lopsided, with 1.8% reporting in all the races we are behind. A few incumbent dems are secure

    Possible Ind. pickup in KS.

    • Carla Akins November 4th, 2014 at 20:51

Orman and Roberts have been neck and neck, but all the other big KS races are going Dem. Looks like Brownback will be out of a job, along with that nutjob Huelskamp.

      • KB723 November 4th, 2014 at 20:52

Orman is running as an Independent???

        • arc99 November 4th, 2014 at 20:53

yup.. I think the Democratic candidate withdrew.

So tonight, voters in the Jayhawk state get a choice between Independent, Republican and Libertarian.

          • KB723 November 4th, 2014 at 20:58

Funny you should say this… I went to vote with my ex girlfriend and she told me she was voting Rethug this year, so when we are standing in line I asked her why she would vote for Beauprez, but we were interrupted, probably cos she was texting on her cell… So after we voted I asked her again and she said she did not vote for Beauprez, but had voted Libertarian, and I jokingly asked her why she voted for a party she could probably not even spell the word for, she ribbed me, but knew if I asked her to spell it she probably would botch the spelling, I do miss her from time to time… =))=

    • arc99 November 4th, 2014 at 20:52

I had heard about the bizarre goings-on in Kansas with Pat Roberts, but I just dismissed it as election year hyperbole.

If the Independent Greg Orman does win the KS Senate seat, things will get very interesting. As far as I know, the candidate has not declared whether he will caucus with the GOP or the Democrats.

In all the calculus surrounding the GOP takeover of the Senate, I don’t think any of them included a GOP incumbent Senator losing.

      • tiredoftea November 4th, 2014 at 20:55

He has supported Dems before, but he has been only saying that he will caucus with whomever wins the Senate. My bet is that he will stick with Dems.

Oh well, there are still four more New England States for Scott Brown to try out.

    • arc99 November 4th, 2014 at 21:24

      how the mighty have fallen.

I remember quite well when Scott Brown won the seat of the late Ted Kennedy. TeaPartiers were gushing with glee. They told us it was “proof” that even in bright blue Massachusetts, the liberal agenda was being rejected.

So keep that in mind my friends, as events play out over the rest of the evening. If the GOP does take the Senate tonight, we are in for two years of insufferable gloating in web forums, and for unproductive gridlock in Washington DC.

But I have no doubt that when it comes to strategic analysis, they will be just as clueless as they were when Scott Brown was proclaimed to be the first wave of the TeaParty revolution.

Keep your eyes on the prize. In 2016, the shoe will be on the other foot. Let’s see how the GOP does when they are the ones defending 23 out of 33 seats, especially if there happens to be someone named Hilary Clinton on the ballot for President.

Yep, NBC called it for Shaheen. I don’t think Brown’s prospects are good in any the of New England states, he’s too nutty and fickle. He couldn’t run in the winger states because, he’s not the “right” kind of nutty.
