If you work for republicans even that isn’t enough now-a-days. People should think about that when job hunting. It would seem that working for democrats is way better than working for selfish republicans.

Oh my goodness. How in the world will these stores be able to prepare for black Friday? You know? That day where Americans happily trample each other the day after we celebrate being thankful for what we have.

I don’t know why people will stand outside a store for hours, only to be trampled and both verbally and physically accosted once you have a coveted item all for Jesus’ Bday. Gifts are great and all, but so is not being trampled or shot if you happen to be shopping in an “open carry” store.

Just the other day a friend and I were discussing how stores were closed on Sundays when we were growing up. We both stated that we could easily live without Sunday shopping and wouldn’t mind if the blue laws were reinstated. If stores were only open six days per week, they would probably sell just as much stuff. So theoretically they could pay just as much in wages for fewer hours of work.
My mom worked for one of the major retail chains when our kids were little. Finding a weekend when my wife (a nurse) and my mom both had at least one day off work was not easy.
In my opinion, the blue laws were “pro-family”. I doubt that a majority would ever vote to reinstate them, but maybe a cultural shift is taking place where retailers who voluntarily close certain days in order to provide family time will be rewarded, or at least not be punished, by shoppers. Or maybe I’m just being naïve?

I worked at a local Kmart right out of high school in the mid 80’s & they always paid time and a half if you worked on Sunday’s & it was voluntary. I’m sure that didn’t last too much longer.
Edit: this was supposed to be a reply to Robert M. Snyder but either I pressed the wrong button or I was hacked in front of my face by the Gubment.
