Illinois Teacher Repeatedly Calls Students ‘N*gger’ and ‘Slave’ After They Object To ‘African-American’
A substitute teacher in a Chicago suburb will no longer be employed at Jay Stream Middle School in Carol Stream after repeatedly calling students the N word and referring to them as slaves while speaking to a group of 8th graders.
According to NBC Chicago, four 13-year-old students say they were in a social studies class working on a project about the Cold War last Wednesday when a substitute teacher approached them and called them “African American.”
“We were so shocked and we were like, ‘What? Excuse me?'” Thompson said. “She was like, ‘Well, back then that’s what African Americans were called.'”
Over the 80-minute class period, the students said she repeated the racial slur and also referred to them as slaves.
It go so bad that one student threw down her books and others began crying, according to the student.
“I just want people to know how much it affected us and I don’t want this to happen to anybody else,” student Zaria Daniel said.
The school district confirmed on Tuesday that the teacher had been interviewed and did corroborate the girls’ description of the incident.
A district spokesperson said the substitute teacher will not be asked back to the school, according to NBC.
Thompson’s mother, Shayna Thompson, said the punishment isn’t enough.
“After the shock and hurt, I’m angry,” she said. “It’s a new world, and the people of the past that still hang onto hatred and bigotry don’t belong in this world anymore.”
She said she is looking into whether the incident could be considered a hate crime.
Local Police said they are aware of the incident and are investigating the matter.

Part of the problem is that Black Africans keep changing what they want to be known as. Negro, Black, African-American, I can’t remember them all. Every generation seems to want a different name….well, if you were born here, that makes you an American. I’m American. My ancestry, however, is German, Irish, English, Scotch, and Dutch. I don’t identify with any of them by calling myself German-American or Irish-American, I’m an American. If black people would just call themselves American, instead of constantly reminding people what continent their ancestors came from, it would be much easier on us all. If people like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and other racial hatred instigators had their platforms taken away, most of America would be color-blind. We all have the same rights and freedoms in this country.
jasperjava October 30th, 2014 at 07:11

Pie Guy October 31st, 2014 at 01:39
Sure, insinuate I belong to the KKK, real adult. There are racists of all colors. KKK, Black Panthers, etc. I advocate against racism myself. I do not agree with what the teacher said. I remarked on the fact it’s difficult to keep up with what black people like to be called. Personally, I’m sick of being called a cracker and worse JUST BECAUSE I AM WHITE. Do you even see the posts here from others who want to kill the teacher, and do bad things to him? Those posters are no better than he is. All ignorant.
jasperjava October 31st, 2014 at 01:56
If people call you a cracker (and no one here has done that) I’m sure it’s for a good reason. It’s because you obviously hate African-Americans. You blame racism on anti-racist civil rights leaders. You blame Black people for the problems with race relations. You really do sound like you’re a member of the KKK, but you don’t even realize it.

The term, African-American came about with the 14th amendment because before that they were called Africans.
The dictionary cites it’s origin as 1831.
Actually, the truth is…..
‘ if people like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and other racial hatred instigators had their platforms taken away, most of America would be color-blind. We all would move further to having the same rights and freedoms in this country’.

Smack yourself. I’m not a dog, nor am I ignorant. People of black color have changed many times the way they like to be referred to during my 50 years on this earth. I didn’t say a thing that was racist. I don’t see color, I see content of character. The disgusting thing is, a lot of the commenters here are just as bad as the guy calling those students names. Don’t you even think about the hate you see spewed right back at lighter skinned people, just because they’re lighter than you are? We’re all humans, aren’t we? Just because you call me white doesn’t mean I am for “white supremacy”. Such hateful people here. No wonder it doesn’t end.

We “black people” didn’t name ourselves any of those things you’ve heard in your 50 years. They were
base designations created by a system that needed to have such things
categorized.I would most likely forget I was “black” if I wasn’t reminded so often that I am ” different” from what societal norms call normal. For the record i never called you a racist, I called you ignorant and even then it’s ignorant of your own social position and your station in juxtaposition with the “black” race at best misinformed. Those statements you made are a clear sign that you have bought into the system of “institutionalized racism”, It’s only partially on you. The other part is honestly the world you and I live in. First: The idea that it’s us “Blacks Africans” keep changing our designation is ludicrous. Once again “we” aren’t making those changes the power base is. Second: I don’t hate you…frankly i don’t know you and I don’t have the time to hate you. What I do have is a spare moment to tell you that your thought process is skewed and you need to re-evaluate your argument for debate before you make such a declarative statement.
You attack personalities like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson for stirring the racial pot of mistrust but the fact that you use them as an example only shows how limited you actually are when it comes to relations with the black race. I’ll say it here…Those entities do not represent me or my race in any way. they represent a faction of people trying to make their particular vision real, just like everyone else’s mouthpiece. By your logic I should assume that every white person is a clone of Tucker Carlson and Ann Coulter and we both know this is not true. I don’t want you to not speak your peace..I want you to do better. If you have theorems on why the black race is in the situations they are in today them I would prefer you to do it with empirical proof of causation as opposed to the regurgitated half truths and suppositions of countless years of ingrained bigotry. At the end of it all it comes down to this one factor…it isn’t up to an outside force to define who and what a people are it’s up to the people themselves, if that changes then so be it but if you’re going to be part of the great social experiment of the Union then you and others best get used to using the appropriate wording of the time…I wonder if Asians get this much flak for not wanting to be called Orientals?
Pie Guy November 1st, 2014 at 01:00
Can’t we all just be Americans? You know what Morgan Freeman said to a question regarding racism? He said “quit talking about it”. I think that’s a perfectly good idea. If everyone just took everybody else at face value, we wouldn’t have to be having discussions like this. I don’t judge anyone by their skin color. I don’t listen to Rush, as someone claimed, nor do I watch Fox news. I grew up watching Cosby, Fresh Prince, and other predominantly African-American shows. Since I was a small boy I’ve thought Cosby is a smart and funny man. I respect Allen West, Dr. Ben Carson, and many other African-Americans. I agree with their thoughts on government.
I will say this though, the signs I saw in tv coverage of ferguson with African-Americans proclaiming they want to kill all whites was particularly troubling to me. Why would they want to kill me or my family just because we are labelled “white”? I nor my family has done anything to warrant such threats. Unfortunately, there seems to be racists of every skin color. I believe there is only one human race, and we’re all part of it.
