Cornel West Calls President Obama And Hillary Clinton War Criminals

Posted by | October 29, 2014 07:41 | Filed under: Politics Radio Interviews Top Stories

Professor Cornel West believes President Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are war criminals. We spoke on radio Tuesday night.

COLMES: You’ve actually called (President Obama) a war criminal. Would you expand upon that? Do you think he should be tried?

DR. WEST: Well, I think all war criminals should be accountable and responsible there’s no doubt about that, that’s true for Hillary Clinton too. Anybody who sat there on those Tuesday nights and looked down that killer list and made choices that ended up killing over 3,000 folks and over 230 innocent children in Somalia, Pakistan, and Yemen. Those are war crimes my brother.

West also had harsh words for what he views as his media enablers.

COLMES: You say in your book that the Obama presidency has made it harder for African-Americans to criticize US policies and make their lives more difficult.

DR. WEST: You know it’s true, because of course you’ve got right wing attacks, ugly attacks on Barack Obama and therefore black people want to protect him by any means.  And then you’ve got this almost wholesale cheerleading and bootlicking of MSNBC of so many, black and white, that don’t allow for critical discourse about not just for Barack Obama but for the system that he leads. It’s very clear that the American system is a failure when it comes to dealing with poor people, and working people when it comes to poor children in our schools, when it comes to poor people in regard to decrepit housing and so on. But they won’t engage in that kind of critique. Why? Because they want to protect the President. So the Sharptons, the Melissa Harris-Perrys, and the Michael Eric Dysons and others, they end up being these cheerleaders and bootlickers for the President, and I think it’s a disgrace when it comes to the black prophetic tradition of Malcolm and Martin.

I have some problems with our President, but war criminal? Does Dr. West recall the last administration and there actions? There is something more there, he is bitter about something and this is a terrible way to express that.

So basically, according to him, every president that presided over any war is a war criminal.

Unless someone can name a war in which absolutely no innocents were killed.

What constitutes a war crime is up to the UN and Geneva Convention not Cornell West. The UN nor Hague have not declared drone killings a war crime. Those nations where US drones have been used have done so with the permission of their governments because they aren’t capable of dealing with the extremists in their border and have essentially outsourced the job to the US military. This need by lefties too come across as “fair” by being equally critical of Democratic Administration is just doing the bidding of the American Right who need the “both sides” meme to be true to give the Bush Admin. a pass on real war crimes. Not that I approve of innocent civilians getting killed by drones. Those operations should be stopped because they simply give the US a black eye that justifies terrorism against Americans, but its not a war crime by the very definition of what constitutes a war crimes. The BBC defined war crimes in this article:http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/1420133.stm
