Dr Tiller’s Murderer Demands His First Amendment Right To Discuss Killing More Abortion Providers
Convicted murderer, domestic terrorist and all around fun guy, Scott Roeder, the man who took Wichita abortion provider George Tiller’s life during church services, was caught making threats against his next victim: Julie Burkhart, the executive director of the clinic that replaced Dr. Tiller after Roeder murdered him, according to Wonkette.
Rork said on Friday that he is working free of charge after Roeder sent him a letter asking for his help. (Insert lawyer joke here).
Rork said he took the case mainly because “I’m a big First Amendment guy.”
And I’m a “Don’t murder people” kind of woman.
If you think Roeder wasn’t serious with his threats, check out the Army Of God site, in which they thank him for murdering Doctor Tiller. Because, that’s just what Jesus would do.
CJ Online reports:
The Associated Press reported Roeder was being held last year at Lansing Correctional Facility when the corrections department disciplined him after concluding he made threats of violence against a different Wichita abortion provider during a telephone interview with an anti-abortion activist. The activist put a recording of the call on YouTube.
The recording included discussion about how Julie Burkhart, executive director of the abortion rights group Trust Women, had opened a women’s health center providing abortion services in the Wichita building Tiller used. Roeder could be heard saying it was “death-defying” for someone to reopen that clinic.
He added, “To walk in there and reopen a clinic, a murder mill where a man was stopped, it’s almost like putting a target on your back — saying, ‘Well, let’s see if you can shoot me.’ ”
The Associated Press reported Roeder was given 45 days in disciplinary segregation with no outside communication, followed by 60 days of loss of privileges and a $20 fine.
Rork said Friday that Roeder hadn’t realized the activist was recording the conversation and would post it online.
Rork said of Roeder: “He didn’t threaten anybody. He just was commenting to a private individual in a discussion that happened to be recorded.”
Rork said that if the First Amendment protects the statement by Westboro Baptist Church members that “Fags are worthy of death,” then it certainly protects the statements Roeder made to the activist.

Right, because calling gay people “fags” is just like murdering someone in cold blood, then discussing your next target, all the while blaming it on God.
In the conversation, Roeder told Iowa Army of God member David Leach that:
“eight [providers] have been shot, so we’ve got 92 to go,” referencing an anti-choice pastor who once claimed, according to Roeder, “If 100 abortionists were shot, [the surviving abortion providers] would probably go out of business.” Roeder also referred to Julie Burkhart, founder of the South Wind Women’s Clinic in Wichita, as “Julie Darkheart” and said, “For Julie Darkheart to walk back in there and reopen a murder mill where a man was stopped. It’s almost like putting a target on your back, saying, ‘Well, let’s see if you can shoot me!’”

When this case was getting ready to go to trial, I wrote a letter to Nola Foulston imploring for the death penalty.
Society, in my view, has a right to protect itself, and some folks will never be able to live in society w/out doing harm, we just don’t know enough to cure them yet. To me, the death penalty is the only way to ensure no escape(it has happened), no reversal because the wrong reason(it has happened) and no ‘influence’ brings about release(it has happened).
Where as it should be used sparingly and only in very clear evidence(Dahmer, Gacy, etc), it has its place.

In this regard, prison officials are entitled to open mail directed to inmates to ensure that it does not contain any illegal items or weapons, but may not censor portions of correspondence which they find merely inflammatory or rude.
