Jeb: ‘What’s The Paycheck Fairness Act?’

Posted by | October 15, 2014 19:15 | Filed under: Economy News Behaving Badly Politics Top Stories

If Jebby is going to run for president, he’d better get up to speed on key pieces of legislation, like the one aimed at narrowing the pay gap between men and women.

The potential 2016 presidential candidate was asked about the Paycheck Fairness Act at a campaign event for Terri Lynn Land, the Republican running for Senate in Michigan. Asked if Land should support the bill, Bush gave the impression that he had never heard of it.

“What’s the Paycheck Fairness Act?” Bush asked, in an exchange captured by the liberal opposition research outfit American Bridge.
Once the man he was speaking with defined it as a bill that would help women receive “equal pay for equal work,” Bush took issue with his phrasing.

“Equal pay for the same work, not for equal work — I think that’s the problem with it. I think there’s a definition issue,” he said, before declining to say whether or not he thought Land should support the legislation.

Of course, his paychecks have always been more than fair to him. Naturally he takes issue with the wording without saying whether he supports the idea. Might explain why the republicans never got any work done.

Jeb probably doesn’t even believe woman should be paid, or at least the rwnj’s feel that way.

One of them recently told women to just be polite and quiet and hope that they get a raise… yeah, that works really well. Or as we said back in the day, well-behaved women rarely make history.

lol, as “bright” as palin when asked about the bush doctrine…Intelligent people would admit their ignorance and promise, follow through with learning the facts.

And they keep saying Jeb Bush is the smartest person in Bush family.

Jeb Bush even disagreed with his own “Book” hours after it was published!

I hope Karl Rove who is working on Jeb’s 2016 campaign hires a teacher for him.

No wonder Barbara Bush said: “We’ve had enough Bushes.” She also said “there are more qualified candidates out there,” meaning Jeb is NOT qualified enough.

Mothers know their kids better than any one else.

I never liked Babs, but she seems to be the only one with common sense. Even she can see which way the wind blows, and Jebbie is about to get hit by a wind gust of reality.
He also has more skeletons that the Roman catacombs.

I remember one on my first bosses back in the early 70s who informed me that women were dumber because their heads were smaller. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Well, like 99% of GOPers, it’s hard to get in with the times when one surrounds themselves with nothing more misogynist dinosaurs.

Jeb Bush:”“Equal pay for the same work, not for equal work…”

I hate when politicians pander just for the sake of pandering instead of being honest. There’s no doubt in my mind that after the PFA was explained to him, JB understood it, but he also knows that if it has anything to do with women being paid for doing the same, and equal, work that men do, the GOPTP isn’t going to support it. His political survival instincts kicked in, but not his instinct and courage to be honest. He has a daughter, and he’d be mad as hell if she and a guy on her job did the same work and she was paid less. It’s a parent’s tendency to speak out against any/all injustices against their kids, and JB is no different than any other parent. If he runs in 2016, he’ll have to move farther to the right, and he’ll end up losing in the General Election just like Romney did in 2012 when he discovered he’d moved so far to the right that when he attempted to move to the center, he was viewed as being very deceptive and dishonest, leaving a majority of Americans to wonder just who/what he is/was.
