Republican Official: I Meant No ‘Ill Intent’ When Calling For A Military Coup Against ‘Domestic Enemy’ Obama
A Republican Missouri official explains that she used a poor choice of words in a post on her personal Facebook page in which she called for a military coup. How does one accidentally call for a military coup? According to Jefferson County Recorder of Deeds Debbie Dunnegan, she meant “no ill intent” when she referred to President Obama as a “domestic enemy.”
“I have a question for all my friends who have served or are currently serving in our military … having not put on a uniform nor taken any type military oath, there has to be something that I am just not aware of. But I cannot and do not understand why no action is being taken against our domestic enemy. I know he is supposedly the commander in chief, but the constitution gives you the authority. What am I missing? Thank you for your bravery and may God keep you safe.”
(my bold)
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the group Progress Missouri posted Dunnegan’s Facebook status on its website on Friday under the headline “JeffCo Recorder Asks Why Military Hasn’t Ousted Obama Yet,” saying that “Jefferson County voters deserve better.”
Dunnegan explains that she simply wanted to know what oath the military took to protect the country from enemies both foreign and domestic. It seems she had forgotten that she specifically referred to the ‘Commander in Chief.”
“I meant no ill intent toward the president. I meant no ill intent toward anybody,” she said.
“Something innocent and simple got twisted into a disaster because it’s an election,” Dunnegan said.
Oh yes, military coups and the assassination of our president is “something innocent.”
She said she’s received good and bad responses to the post.
As for how it could affect her chances for re-election, the paper reports that Dunnegan said, “I think it could hurt it as much as it could help it.”
Waters said she is stunned that her Facebook comments have generated a controversy. “I should have known better than to use certain phrases,’’ she said. “Maybe my choice of words was bad.”
I love how these red meat throwing Republicans use such strong language then walk it back while playing victim. I hope her hair falls out and she goes broke, ends up destitute and panhandling for money while scrounging through dumpsters for food in the worst of neighborhoods, without shelter. Perhaps then, she can reflect back to that time when she could have made a difference in this world, even a small one, but something meaningful. I meant no “ill intent” by that, just so we’re clear. I just wrote something “innocent” which I’m sure will be “twisted” because of upcoming elections.

“Dunnegan explains that she simply wanted to know what oath the military took to protect the country from enemies both foreign and domestic.”
Then she said, “And I’m too stupid to google it, or go to a library and crack open a book. So I rely on my facebook friends to answer any questions I might have about anything and everything.”

“Maybe my choice of words was bad.”
Maybe? So she holds out the chance that they were not?
Perhaps if she were visited by the local constabulary, cuffed, charged with sedition, and then informed by her attorney that she is facing a LONG time as a guest of the state making little ones out of big ones; it will help her decide whether her choice of words was bad and whether inciting rebellion is a good idea.

Lock these traitors up and throw away the key.

I like the American way and am not prepared to throw people in prison with all their rights trampled upon, the way shpik advocates.
Shpik is advocating things that hundreds of thousands of Americans have died to protect.
Shpik is saying we should copy the things we have long objected to.
Shpik is advocating tyranny.

You don’t want to lock traitors up?
burqa October 15th, 2014 at 05:11
I don’t want to throw them in Gitmo, where prisoners were:
* denied the right to a writ of habeas corpus,
* denied the right to a public and speedy trial,
* prevented from cross-examining witnesses against them,
* were denied attorneys of their choice,
* had lower thresholds for admissible evidence (such as hearsay evidence),
* were denied attorney-client privilege,
* were unable to see some of the evidence against them,
* were subjected to cruel treatment like being made members of the “Frequent Flyer Club,”
– to name a few objections I have to the notion of throwing people like this woman in Gitmo and throwing away the key.
I am not willing to throw away our system in order to satisfy my personal disgust and ideological tastes.
This dolt in the OP should be investigated and charged, if that is deemed proper. Then she should have a fair trial in which none of her rights are denied.
The same for others doing the same, regardless of their politics.

Uhh, I don’t know about that. I am old enough to recall a time when the call for revolution was mostly coming from the Left. All that talk in dorm bull sessions about the Revolution kinda lost steam as marijuana became more available.
Fight fire with water, not more fire when fire is the problem we object to.
Republicans_are_Evil October 14th, 2014 at 21:36
So because the left once spoke of revolution, that makes it acceptable for the right wing to do so now?
burqa October 15th, 2014 at 04:52
No, not at all.
Two wrongs make 2 wrongs.
I was just kind of ruminating without thinking much about it, but we need to judge both the same.
By the same token, we object to the violent rhetoric coming from nitwits like the woman in the OP should not engage in similar speech in response. But that is what we see here.
I think it has gotten out of hand.
On the Right, a dunce like the woman described in the OP gets little criticism for that kind of talk.
Unfortunately, we can see right here people on the Left going overboard,, but few are willing to point it out.
That is why I said fight fire with water.

Sedition is pretty much all the ill intent you can have for your own country. And baiting veterans to commit treason is the ultimate of cowardice and ignorance.

Both of my kids were in the military and there is just about nothing they hate more than a republican, they jokingly use the word republican as a cuss word. All of their military friends are the same way so I have to wonder why republicans thinks veterans like them or would do anything they said?

Thanks. Funny, it was the Mods who got flagged as well.
Looks like they are having an identity crisis; are they fostering a “community” or establishing a “club”. The mess over there started with one poster commenting that his experience of living in a small town gave him a relatively better perspective on an issues than his experiences from living in the city. He was flamed. Those who supported his “right” to provide his opinion were also flamed. Haven’t seen that level of emotional driven banning since the good ol’ days of Huffington P.
I recognize the job of a Mod is challenging. I certainly wouldn’t want the burden. But, the effective functioning of a forum does require rules, and the appropriate application of those rules.

The mods here are getting flagged as well. Sometimes cleaning house is in order and I bet that is what is going on. Too much leniency can lead to a big mess. Disqus doing away with visible downvotes has caused people to flag a lot more and I think that irritates moderators. Especially when you get people doing a tit-for-tat argument going on with the parties flagging each other. Throwing them both out to get control of the situation is an easy way to solve the problem. Not the best, but quick and easy.
