Republican Official: I Meant No ‘Ill Intent’ When Calling For A Military Coup Against ‘Domestic Enemy’ Obama

A Republican Missouri official explains that she used a poor choice of words in a post on her personal Facebook page in which she called for a military coup. How does one accidentally call for a military coup? According to Jefferson County Recorder of Deeds Debbie Dunnegan, she meant “no ill intent” when she referred to President Obama as a “domestic enemy.”

Dunnegan’s post read:

“I have a question for all my friends who have served or are currently serving in our military … having not put on a uniform nor taken any type military oath, there has to be something that I am just not aware of. But I cannot and do not understand why no action is being taken against our domestic enemy. I know he is supposedly the commander in chief, but the constitution gives you the authority. What am I missing? Thank you for your bravery and may God keep you safe.”

(my bold)

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the group Progress Missouri posted Dunnegan’s Facebook status on its website on Friday under the headline “JeffCo Recorder Asks Why Military Hasn’t Ousted Obama Yet,” saying that “Jefferson County voters deserve better.”

Dunnegan explains that she simply wanted to know what oath the military took to protect the country from enemies both foreign and domestic. It seems she had forgotten that she specifically referred to the ‘Commander in Chief.”

“I meant no ill intent toward the president. I meant no ill intent toward anybody,” she said.

“Something innocent and simple got twisted into a disaster because it’s an election,” Dunnegan said.

Oh yes, military coups and the assassination of our president is “something innocent.”

She said she’s received good and bad responses to the post.

As for how it could affect her chances for re-election, the paper reports that Dunnegan said, “I think it could hurt it as much as it could help it.”

Waters said she is stunned that her Facebook comments have generated a controversy. “I should have known better than to use certain phrases,’’ she said. “Maybe my choice of words was bad.”

I love how these red meat throwing Republicans use such strong language then walk it back while playing victim. I hope her hair falls out and she goes broke, ends up destitute and panhandling for money while scrounging through dumpsters for food in the worst of neighborhoods, without shelter. Perhaps then, she can reflect back to that time when she could have made a difference in this world, even a small one, but something meaningful. I meant no “ill intent” by that, just so we’re clear. I just wrote something “innocent” which I’m sure will be “twisted” because of upcoming elections.

What’s funny is that she doesn’t seem to realize that SHE is what is meant by the phrase “domestic enemies” in the oath: someone who would use violence to overturn the democratic will of the people.

    no she is horribly wrong.

as far as I am concerned, it is she and people like you who are domestic enemies.

If she was “the lone wacko” such statements could be easily dismissed. She isn’t, there are thousands just like her in our Country. We must recognize that civics does matter and our involvement in the process is critically important. The simple power of our vote can put her and those like her in their place. We need not sacrifice our dignity or civility in order to do it.

As the gopee knows…it is the local elections that are most important ..not the national ones

Why are the U.S. Armed Forces not overthrowing Obama?
    Oh, I don’t know…
because the idea rotting in Leavenworth (on death row) for high treason and sedition (much less getting shot dead by loyal troops) doesn’t exactly appeal to even the most gung-ho senior commander, maybe?

    Dumb move, madame…
