ISIS Releases Video Of Apparent Beheading Of British Aid Worker
A short video was released by Islamic State militants, orISIS, on Friday showing the apparent beheading of British aid worker Alan Henning, marking the fourth Western hostage thus far.
Before Henning is murdered, he is seen speaking to the camera, referencing the Britain’s Parliament decision to join the bombing campaign against ISIS. At the end of the video, an American aid worker, Peter Kassig, is shown and his life is threatened, just as in previous videos, CNN reports.
BBC reports that his kidnapping was not made public until nine months later when he became the fourth Western hostage – after US journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff and British aid worker David Haines – to be paraded in a video by the extremist organization.
Henning was known as “Gadget” or “Gadge” to his friends because of his technical skills. When kidnapped, he had been on an informal convoy with British Muslims in Ad Dana, an area held by ISIS.
Last week, the British Foreign Office released an audio file of Henning pleading for his life. Muslim leaders joined Barbara Henning’s pleas for mercy.

I wonder if ISIL realizes that continued acts of terror like beheadings is only going to strengthen our resolve bring more airstrikes down upon their heads.

I think they do. They don’t think the way we do. In that region, they tend to celebrate major defeats as if they were victories.
It is horrible that these loathesome people are not only bloodthirsty, but have a propaganda campaign going to make sure people know how barbaric they are.
In the face of spectacular beheadings and the intention to get us to take decisions based on emotional responses, we need to keep our powder dry and decide what to do in a clear-headed, rational frame of mind.
This alone is not cause to go to war, or even kinda-war.
If America and vital American interests are threatened, then that’s another story. Today I re-read a column by David Ignatius that seemed to make a case that ISIS does, in fact, constitute a threat to us. I have a lot of respect for Ignatius and his opinion carries weight with me.

Yeah… that’s true isn’t it? A pattern is developing, “apparent” beheading then bombing. Although last time we didn’t hit these terrorists, that was up to Iraqi and other Arabs, instead we targeted this new offshoot of al-Qaeda, the Khorasan Group. We (Americans) are being played, that’s for sure. But by who, and in what capacity, I am not altogether sure!?

I agree. I have this feeling that something very different than what is being portrayed is happening here, but I don’t know what. These beheadings, IMO, are a sick, twisted distraction.

“Apparent?” The video doesn’t show a beheading, not that I really want to see that and to be honest I’m trying hard to avoid it… so far I’ve gone along with it, based on all the other terrible stuff attributed to these guys and my faith in Obama that he isn’t going to do any stupid “stuff” over there.
However, flags are going up in my head when I read stuff like, “There is no reason to believe the video is not authentic…” So, is there any reason to believe the video is authentic? I don’t mean to be disrespectful or flippant yet, Corpus delicti. Bring me the body, and the head too please.
It’s sick and twisted, but I’m not so sure it’s as much a “distraction,” as it is a money making tactic; first they try extortion, when that fails they stage these “apparent” be headings and the contributions roll in.

unfortunately that’s what being played is all about. A grand master and a good chess player: the master plays while the player tries to figure the next move against 20 moves already in the works by a master. Right now the usa is the player and, if the last 14 years are an example, not a very good one.

The USA is a player among many and the situation is much more complex and unpredictable than even multidimensional chess. I think we (Americans) have done a much better job over the last 6 years, ending two errant wars from the previous administration. Along with massive diplomatic efforts to stitch together and unite Arabs against a common enemy. Add the cost of humanitrain aid to rescue trapped refugees and arm, or re-arm, Iraqis and Kurds, courtesy of US taxpayers. And don’t forget those dams and keeping Baghdad safe from what could have been an epic flood of truly Biblical proportions.
