NYPD: Police Accidentally Shot Unarmed Hispanic Man In The Back
According to the medical examiner, an unarmed Hispanic man who intervened in a confrontation between police and a knife-wielding assailant died of a gunshot to the back after police fired shots.
NYPD spokesman Stephen Davis says Rafael Laureano was “inadvertently” struck by a police bullet on Monday in Brooklyn. The assailant, Francisco Carvajal, also died in the shooting.
Police say Laureano had gone to the apartment after Carvajal’s former girlfriend called him for help. They say he rushed past officers to confront Carvajal.
Police say officers told Carvajal to drop the knife several times.
Initially, police claimed that Laureano was stabbed before officers arrived, however, the medical examiner said no stab wounds were found on his body.
The woman and her two young children were not injured in the incident.

Inadvertent or not the guy is still dead. Now they will get together and come up with a plausible story. Why is the only course of action shooting. how about a taser or simply throwing him to the ground.

“Initially, police claimed that Laureano was stabbed before officers arrived”
Right. Gotta get the lie that absolves the cops of any malfeasance out there first thing. We can try to deal with the truth later. Another typical NYPD CYA action to keep it from being indicted for murder..

how many shots were fired that they were able to shoot one in the back and kill the other? so, they thought the guy with the knife was going to kill the other so their response was to get dibs. cops are out of control.

Lemme see if I got this straight. The unarmed civilian rushes in to save a woman from a knife- wielding attacker, while our
brave, heroic, thin blue line of first responderspork chops stand way back and spray bullets everywhere. That about it?uzza October 2nd, 2014 at 20:01

Here again, we see how the Cops LIE. They lie in Court under oath. They lie to “suspects.” They probably lie to their fellow Cops and to their own families.
