GOP State Legislator Asks Why America Can’t Be More Like Saudi Arabia

Posted by | July 31, 2014 10:49 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics Top Stories

The Arkansas Republican objects to a judge’s ruling striking down the his state’s same-sex marriage ban. That, of course, means we should be more like Saudi Arabia.

State Sen. Jason Rapert appeared on the Dave Elswick radio show last week, where he discussed Pulaski County Circuit Judge Chris Piazza’s decision that overturned the state’s constitutional amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman:

When judges assert the will of the people wholly in this country, they are pulling the rug out from underneath representative democracy. By the way, Saudi Arabia, they don’t live under the same kind of law that we do. They live under the law that they see fit to live under there. We have that right here, too. And that’s why there’s such an injustice here.

Of course, what Rapert doesn’t understand is something called the Constitution that doesn’t bend to the will of the governed when it comes to the Bill of Rights.

We are already a bit like Saudi Arabia, in that we join them in the countries around the world that allows executions of its people by the state.

I have always said that the threat of Sharia law in this country comes not from Muslims, but from the American right.

If he likes Saudi Arabia so much, maybe he should marry it.

So he wants sharia law, after all?

    • Dwendt44 July 31st, 2014 at 19:57

Yup. Here is called ‘biblical’ law. Slavery, polygamy, child abuse, killing those that don’t think the right way. It’s all there.

How long will it take him to figure out it’s the 2nd decade of the 21st century? He’s so used to Wal*Mart ruling Arkansas like an unconstitutional theocratic monarchy he forgot all about SCOTUS equality correcting 5th & 10th amendment violations that unfairly taxed married LGBT without representation.

I told you women of America-watch out. These
Repubs and TPs want sharia law like Saudi Arabia. It Repubs and TPs retake the
Senate, they will require women to wear the boogar – no more tanning, swim suit
wearing, driving car, being doctors, engineers or lawyers. Of course Repub and
TP males want polygamy like Saudi Arabia.
American women – you’re done with Repubs and TPs controlling the Senate
and Congress. Don’t vote for them in November.

Of course Repub and TP males want polygamy like Saudi Arabia. In Wisconsin Governor Walker has already started Sharia law. Women can be paid less than men doing the same job. Women in Wisconsin cannot complain being mistreated at work. Walker had defunded the department previously investigated complaints mistreatment at work. Shhhhh! Please don’t mention to Rapert that he’s endorsing Sharia Law or that Saudi Arabia is an absolute monarchy with a theocratic form of government.
