You Just Knew Alex Jones Wouldn’t Be Able To Resist…

Posted by | July 21, 2014 08:57 | Filed under: Media/Show Business News Behaving Badly Top Stories

… espousing a conspiracy theory about Malaysian Airlines flight 17. Thankfully, the good folks at Raw Story regularly keep an eye on the notorious radio host so you don’t have to:

Assembling a collection of newspaper headlines, out of context quotes, and rumors of unsourced tweets, analysts and correspondents for Alex Jones’ Info Wars have cast doubt upon the evolving consensus that Russian separatists in the Ukraine shot down flight MH17, explaining that the downing of the flight is a ‘false flag,’ designed to foment an international war in the region.

Introducing the segment, Lee Ann McAdoo said, “Here we are, teetering on the edge of World War III, and the globalists really seem to be accelerating their plan. It used to be a lot easier to convince the masses of whatever their global agenda was with the propaganda arm of the media.”

McAdoo went on to explain that the globalists, “…used to set small fires here and there, fires that we could easily stamp out here at Info Wars. But now, they’re just going to go ahead and set the whole world on fire all at once.”

I won’t make the obvious comment about McAdoo being a whackadooo… oh, darn, too late!

You don’t need ESP to know he’d go there. He’s despicable.

He really is a reprehensible person, What I really don’t like is how some people just think he’s a nut but he’s way more insidious than that. He knows what every word of his damaging speech does.

Shades of Glenn Beck except more dangerous.

True statement, you just look at glenn beck and its like looking at Ralphie from a Christmas story after some bad years and poor choices. So focused on a past that will never return that he’ll do anything to keep it alive at least in his mind. It’s almost kinda sad. Alex Jones is a basement dwelling troglodyte. The kind of guy that if he didn’t have a show he’d still be doing this with a ham radio waiting for some message from Crazy Joe Kremlin that they are going to attack. Just so he can run upstairs to the cocktail party thats going on and ruin it with hot urine stained jeans and madness pouring out of him.

          • Anomaly 100 July 21st, 2014 at 10:12

I wonder if he started out doing ham radio shows. It’s sounds so familiar.

it wouldn’t be all that far of a stretch…everytime you see a picture of him he’s in some shadowy cave with boxes of yellowed paperwork and old coffee and donuts. I guess he started in talentless bog of cable access.

Jones has made a career by chumming the waters of right wing paranoia with his insultingly inane conspiracy theories.
Why should this tragedy be any different?

While I’m not at all surprised that he’s pushing this as another Illuminati-Buildaburger-Obama conspiracy, I WAS surprised to learn the other day that this blithering peace of man-flesh is married. (Sorry ladies…)

    • ChrisVosburg July 21st, 2014 at 15:07

I’d noticed that myself, and it made me wonder how much of the Alex Jones style is brought home to the wife and kids. Does he accuse the kids of being globalists when they don’t make the bed, or his wife of conducting a false flag operation when she tells him dinner will be half an hour late tonight?

      • M D Reese July 21st, 2014 at 22:55

I was hoping to see some rebuttal but all this says is “Look what this whacko is saying now,” the implication being that because he’s a whacko it’s gotta be false. Frankly I’m unimpressed with Liberaland’s “analysis” on this one.

    • eaglesfanintn July 21st, 2014 at 14:14

It pretty much speaks for itself. Not sure how much more “analysis” you need. Read the quote, think about it and then tell us what you think needed to be added. Sometimes, you just have to let the lunacy stand on its own.

    • Chinese Democracy July 21st, 2014 at 14:26

if Alex Jones had even a shred of credibility. Im sure someone would bother rebutting the nut ball

    • Russell Byrd July 21st, 2014 at 17:17

It is often hard to refute commentary that is not rooted in reality.

    • burqa July 21st, 2014 at 17:32

I can’t refute Jones’ allegations about space aliens and ancient civilizations on Mars, either. Can you disprove those, Mr. McClarin?
If not, they must be true, right?

      • Jim McClarin July 22nd, 2014 at 10:47

I certainly never said that or meant that. I’m afraid I don’t fall easily into belief.

        • burqa July 23rd, 2014 at 13:19

There really isn’t much rebuttal when it comes to Alex Jones. He just can’t be taken seriously, but more as an entertaining diversion, like the Gumby and Pokey toys onstage at a Dead concert.
My fave recent Alex Jones story came out a year and a half or so ago. He had “proof” that the U.S. was importing 30,000 guillotines for use on Americans rounded up and put in FEMA camps, with the UN running the show, puppets to an unholy alliance of the Trilateral Commission, the Illuminati and aliens from Niburu.
Something like that, hell, I don’t know. Alex Jones talk takes one in unusual directions, like hanging out with Timothy Leary. The thing to do is relax and enjoy the psychedelic nature of the journey.

Of course, since we can’t PROVE we weren’t importing 30,000 guillotines….

Har, it’s just best to have fun with it all and keep in mind that without people like Alex Jones, things would be more dull….maybe we can get him an NPR subsidy if he needs it to stay in the public eye and to finance his investigations….

          • Jim McClarin July 25th, 2014 at 11:45

I agree Alex Jones is entertaining as well as paranoid but I decided long ago not to entirely discount those whose analysis is sketchy but whose antennae are on constant alert. Occasionally they find something the rest of us missed. They are early warning indicators despite their many false alarms.

I’m afraid I don’t “tune in” to Jones often, especially since beginning my entomological research in the equatorial cloud forest, but those times that I have listened to and/or viewed his rants I have always allowed myself to imagine that he might possibly be right.

BTW, Jones is hard to brand as a conservative and he certainly has no love of the GOP. In many areas I found him quite liberal.

No the implication being that judging by his sources on this, he has no credibility whatsoever. The fact that he is also clean out of his mind is just a foot note .

    • ChrisVosburg July 21st, 2014 at 15:21

Jim, you could follow the link to TBogg’s piece at Raw Story, which goes into a bit more detail about Crazy Shit Our Alex Said Recently, if you like, but here at least, Alex is such a well-known paranoid conspiracy theorist that it’s not needed.

Take Dan Quayle (Please!). You pretty much knew what was coming whenever a late night comedian would say, “so I see Dan Quayle is in the news tonight…” and that line alone was enough to start the laughter.

      • Jim McClarin July 22nd, 2014 at 10:50

Actually, if this wasn’t a mistake then the only thing it could be would be a false flag but then the question would be which side committed it. I think it was a mistake, though.

Alex’s big question was why was the flight was flying over restricted air space? Did he consider the possibility that Malaysian airlines is simply incompetent?

    • ChrisVosburg July 22nd, 2014 at 09:45

Tom Ward writes: Alex’s big question was why was the flight was flying over restricted air space? Did he consider the possibility that Malaysian airlines is simply incompetent?

[sigh] More importantly, does Alex Jones consider the possibility that Alex Jones is incompetent?

Strictly speaking, it’s true that MH17 was flying over restricted airspace, which is to say, it was not flying in restricted airspace.

The route it took was approved by Ukraine with the proviso that an altitude of at least 32,000 feet was maintained. MH17 was at an altitude of 33,000 feet when it disappeared from radar screens.

From an LA Times article last Friday:

“The flight path taken by MH17 was approved by the International Civil Aviation Organization and by the countries whose airspace the route passed through,” said Liow Tiong Lai at a news conference in Kuala Lumpur on Friday. “Fifteen out of 16 airlines in the Assn. of Asia Pacific Airlines fly this route over Ukraine.”

Alex Jones, being Alex Jones, managed to mangle the facts into the bizarre assertion that the flight was told to fly at exactly 32,000 feet, which is mighty suspicious, if true. It isn’t, and Alex Jones is Christendom’s Premier Fucking Fool.
