As if things aren’t bad enough, here is something else to worry about…
David Hirsch, a.k.a. Dave "Doctor" Gonzo*, is a renegade record producer, video producer, writer, reformed corporate shill, and still-registered lobbyist for non-one-percenter performing artists and musicians. He lives in a heavily fortified compound in one of Manhattan's less trendy neighborhoods.
* Hirsch is the third person to use the pseudonym, a not-so-veiled tribute to journalist and author Hunter S. Thompson, with the permission of his predecessors Gene Gaudette of American Politics Journal (currently webmaster and chief bottlewasher at Liberaland) and Stephen Meese at Smashmouth Politics.

We are making progress in this country, thanks to the efforts of the First Lady and despite the idiotic naysaying of the death panel/birth certificate/skewed poll crowd.
Every First Lady in recent memory has selected a key civic issue as their pet project. One would think that all Americans could support efforts to inform people on the foods we provide to children, especially foods that can lead to long term, expensive health issues.
But to many people in this country, nothing is more important than their psychotic hatred of the President and the First Lady, not even the health of our children.

I grew up with JFK’s Presidential fitness program–I don’t remember anybody grumbling about it. We were proud to be in good shape and spent a lot more time outdoors than most kids do today. We also had real food in the school cafeteria and learned basics about personal hygiene and nutrition.
