The Supreme Court Has Empowered The Bigots

Who could have predicted that the Fab Five U.S. Supreme Court was going to empower Theocrats to start screaming for federal exemptions to everything they find distasteful? Um, everyone?
Anyway, a group of snake handlers faith leaders has asked the Obama administration to allow them to continue to discriminate against the gays in their hiring practices:

Their call, in a letter sent to the White House Tuesday, attempts to capitalize on the Supreme Court case by arguing that it shows the administration must show more deference to the prerogatives of religion.
“We are asking that an extension of protection for one group not come at the expense of faith communities whose religious identity and beliefs motivate them to serve those in need,” the letter states.

The Theocrats say that without the religious exemption to the proposed executive order on federal contractors, “this expansion of hiring rights will come at an unreasonable cost to the common good, national unity and religious freedom.”

Unreasonable hiring rights? Homophobia is misogyny’s kid brother, it seems. Yesterday it was birth control and oppressing women, today it is the rainbow flag. Who will it be tomorrow?

It’s perfectly ridiculous that our tax dollars are going to religious non-government entities to administer secular programs, but for them to demand to be allowed to discriminate takes some real brass.

The Theocrats are using the Hobby Lobby opinion to justify discrimination. The Senate-passed Employment Non-Discrimination Act (which the GOP-controlled House killed) included an exemption for religious organizations, and so while it is not the law of the land, the Theocrats are happy to cite it, though it doesn’t apply to the situation.

So organizations which line their pockets with taxpayer dollars want to be able to discriminate against gay taxpayers?

If these groups want to practice their own versions of Sharia law, the solution is simple. Get off the government dole and earn your keep in the private sector. Otherwise, f*ck off.

In the Hobby Lobby case, the answer is even simpler: Medicare for Everyone. Get your boss out of your panties and everywhere else.

As a devoted follower of the Flying Spaghetti Monster I demand the right to not hire Republicans, Christians and people with blue eyes. My faith demands this of me and the Clowns in Gowns have said it is okay.

Trouble started when lawyers out of fundy xian colleges demanded stale licensed pharmacists be protected if object to
doing their job filling lawful Rx for birth control. They got it codified that discrimination against a whole gender was OK if it bothered one’s religious feelings.

Screamed about it then, that it was a slippery slope that would demote females to less than whole citizens. And now we see that slippery slop turned into a mudslide, muddling the question: are we a nation of law or a nation of religious zealotry splintering the society and destroying any hope of equality.

It’s also an economic attack on women, working class and poor families. The Right wants people to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps, work harder, to reach economic mobility. The Right also knows that is impossible without the ability to control family size.

Face it, they are using religion to enforce class stratification. Again I ask, are we a nation of laws or a theocracy?

Let’s just ban all forms of organized religion. You have the freedom of religion, personally and privately. Never pubically and in large groups.
