Matt Lauer Steps On A Rake
Today Show host Matt Lauer on Thursday asked General Motors CEO Mary Barra if she felt she could run a company and be a good mother during an interview about the company’s controversial recalls…
Lauer then asked Barra about her children, noting that her kids have said they will hold her “accountable for one job and that is being a mom.”
“Given the pressures of this job at General Motors, can you do both well?” he asked.
And Lauer—rightfully so—received pushback for his obvious sexism.
Lauer has responded to his critics while noting without any guile that he is flying all over the place for his job:
A busy few days of travel from London to Detroit… I’m writing this update now from Denver. Thanks for all of the comments and feedback around our interview with GM CEO Mary Barra this morning.
Lauer has three children: Jack Matthew (b. June 26, 2001), Romy (b. October 2, 2003), and Thijs (pronounced “Tice”) (b. November 28, 2006). His wife filed for divorce in Manhattan Supreme Court on September 13, 2006, while pregnant with their third child; the couple subsequently reconciled.
How does he remain a good father and achieve a life-work balance? One wonders. Meanwhile, Eiron, the Goddess of Irony, blushed and reached for the gin.

Whoever thought this interview was a good match should rethink their opinion of Matt Lauer. Sarah Palin is Matt Lauer’s intellectual equal. Holy cow is that dude dumb.
