Dana Loesch Is Right: Time To Bring On The Gashington RedSnatch
The news that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has revoked the Washington Redskins’ trademark has sent white conservatives scurrying to defend liberty, but the one with the best argument has got to be TheBlaze editor Dana Loesch, who points out that the team name “honors” Native Americans. Of course, Loesch would know better than the five Native American petitioners, because she is, after all, the Editor in Chief (she’s actually not the Editor in Chief). In case you missed the news, the USPTO issued a press release this week, announcing the cancellation of the Washington Redskins’ federal trademark:
The United States Patent and Trademark Office’s (USPTO) Trademark Trial and Appeal Board — an independent administrative tribunal within the USPTO — has determined, based on the evidentiary record in the proceeding before it and on applicable law, that the petitioners met their burden to establish that the term “Redskins” was disparaging of Native Americans, when used in relation to professional football services, at the times the various registrations involved in the cancellation proceeding were issued. Thus, the federal registrations for the “Redskins” trademarks involved in this proceeding must be canceled.
The decision follows mounting pressure from anti-freedom sticks-in-the-mud like President Barack Obama and the Cherokee, Comanche, Oneida and Seminole tribes, and the National Congress of American Indians, but true guardians of Native American culture like Dan Snyder and Dana Loesch know better than these people: As much as I hate to agree with Dana Loesch…READ MORE

Despite right wing opposition,we have entered a time when Native American voices will no longer be go unheard, discounted, marginalized, demonized insulted or ignored by a great many American citizens and leaders. Their voices are important on a wide range of issues that not only affect the tribal citizens but all of us. They and their culture are the roots of this land we now call home. The “Dream” should never have been nor continue to be a nightmare for so many! It is time to stop the games of insulting or diminishing these great people! That the Native American’s continue to receive insults by the right wing and Republicans does not surprise me but I am thankful so many are ready to step forward into a more respectful and acknowledging relationship with the tribes and their people! There has been much we have done wrong since the founding of this country and the worst being out treatment of Native American. We don’t need to continue that treatment and Thank God this period of time is showing us that it is possible for at least a great many of us to change. I am so glad to see this happening in my lifetime! If all we have to see is our past and more recent degrading treatment of Native Americans, what a shameful view that is! Time to truly honor the Tribes and hear their voices!
