Oregon Republican Monica Wehby’s Tasty Obamacare Word Salad
Click here for reuse options![C]onservative pundit Ramesh Ponnuru pointed out that Wehby had, well, gibberish in her Obamacare replacement plan. A guy, John Goodman who may or may not be president of a thing called the National Center for Policy Analysis leapt to the defense of Wehby’s plan by … making all of Ponnuru’s points? Ponnuru said originally that the plan won’t work as is, which Goodman agrees with. But then Goodman goes off the rails into whether or not Wehby is “fixing” or “replacing” Obamacare and says that semantics is Ponnuru’s problem. Except that Wehby hasn’t seemed to be able to make up her mind what exactly she’s aiming for.
So here’s where Wehby has stood on replace vs. fix, in chronological order: On the campaign website it outlined a plan of “fixes” with no mention of replacement; the campaign manager then said that Wehby was for replacement; and now the campaign is approvingly tweeting an article that commends her for not wanting a replacement. The tweet itself describes her plan as “reforming Obamacare.” All clear?
One thing is clear: This campaign promises to provide some fun entertainment in the coming months.

I live in Oregon and got tired of Wehby’s adds — here ads were mostly her walking around in a doctor’s closes and declaring Obamacare was a disaster.
No proposals. No alternatives. About the only thing she promised was to hold an investigation.

It never got mentioned that Wheby was extremely well paid under the old system. Very, very rich. Like a million a year — she earns much more than I do just for attending AMA board meetings.
No wonder she likes the old system.
