Former Bush Attorney Explains Why Bush Would Have Made Bergdahl Deal

John Bellinger who advised George W. Bush’s state department and national security council, says many of the Gitmo detainees will have to be released anyway when combat operations end, and so it was good we were able to get something in return. He believes Bush would have made the same deal.

    And the right wing would have cheered him for it. I have a FB friend who posted a meme stating how much Bush missed saluting the troops. Her other friends then remark how Bush respected the troops unlike “Obummer.” Then I post a comment to the effect of “Since Bush sent over 4K of them to die in Iraq during his make believe WMD search, saluting is the least he can do.” It doesn’t go over well, but I give my old school chum credit for not unfriending me.
