Nancy Pelosi: Benghazi Victims’ Families Oppose #Benghazi Select Committee

At a press conference Friday afternoon, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) spoke about the conditions under which Congressional Democrats may, or may not, participate in the newly-formed House Select Committee on Hashtag #Benghazi, laying out conditions which Democrats would like to see met. Leader Pelosi also revealed that family members of two of the four Americans killed in the Benghazi attack have reached out to oppose the committee. “They said ‘Do not take us down this path again,'” Pelosi told reporters.

Leader Pelosi pointed out that Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) opposed a new Benghazi investigation as recently as a few weeks ago, and explained the range of options for Democrats with regard to the committee, which she called a “kangaroo court.” Those options include a total boycott, appointing one Democrat, or taking whatever the Republicans give them.

“We must have standards where a Democrat must concur on the issuance of subpoenas, decisions to depose witnesses, in the decision to interview witnesses, and with the decision to release any report, document, or information by the committee, or by the staff of the committee,” Pelosi said. She added that once negotiations at the staff level were complete, she and Speaker Boehner would meet, to possibly agree on terms.

“It’s very sad,” Leader Pelosi continued. “Chris Stevens, Glen Doherty, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods. Two of their families have called us and said ‘Please don’t take us down this path again.’ It’s really hard for them, it’s very sad.”

According to ThinkProgress, one of the family members who reached out was that of Tyrone Woods…READ MORE

    “Fact-checking BenGhazi: Rhetoric hasn’t matched up with Reality!” GOP busted again by Pulitzer Prize winning Politifact! “Issa is Damaged Goods” ‘That’s why they had to replace him’-Leader Pelosi nails today’s GOP problem. There she goes again making idiotic pronouncements just like her “food stamps are good for the economy” routine.

    • Epiphany Dh May 10th, 2014 at 01:19

      What does this have to do with food stamps? “Leader Pelosi also revealed that family members of two of the four Americans killed in the Benghazi attack have reached out to oppose the committee. “They said ‘Do not take us down this path again,’” Pelosi told reporters.” She’s simply relaying how some family members of the people who were killed feel about these endless investigations. Are you calling the families of the four who were killed idiotic? Your comment really doesn’t make much sense.

    • AnthonyLook May 10th, 2014 at 15:01

      The only idiotic pronouncements being observed are the Republican Benghazi lies replacing their Obamacare lies. American voters are not believing nor supporting the lie loving tea party birther racists on this Benghazi lie just like they haven’t supported any of their other lying scandals. The only ones fooling themselves are the Republicans.

      • Ennaxor May 11th, 2014 at 22:52

        There are lots of people that are believing and are supporting the investigation. Even us Independents and even more Democrats than you care to admit. Sorry to burst your bubble.

        • AnthonyLook May 12th, 2014 at 01:01

          Sorry to burst your bubble, but repeating lies doesn’t make it so. Your the laughing stocks, you’re the tea party birther racists, you’re the Libertarians wannabe tea partiers, you’re the KKK, you’re the fringe of what ever you call yourselves. American voters are not supporting another fake scandal, another lie.

          • Ennaxor May 12th, 2014 at 10:07

            American voters are supporting it. Talk to people outside your stoner den.

            • AnthonyLook May 12th, 2014 at 20:39

              Just like the Birther lie, the IRS lie, the Fast and Furious lie, the taking the Jeeps to China lie, the Death Camp lies, the Death Panel lies, the Imperialist King lie, the unlawful and impeachable president lie——-No one but you tea party bither racist haters believe this latest fake scandal. Repeat it what ever you want like you repeated it about all the other lies. NONE of the STUCK— because lies don’t stick. You’re on your own Republicans with this one. It’s yours and you own. Just like you failed with your Obama Care lies, this will come back to haunt you too.

              • Ennaxor May 13th, 2014 at 00:14

                You seem very angry and you aren’t making much sense. Poor thing. :((((

                • AnthonyLook May 13th, 2014 at 00:37

                  You seem delusional and convinced in your lies. Which lie that you have supported, ever been true? You want to see sad, look in the mirror. I have nothing but truth that sustains me. Projecting your anger at us liberals fools no one.

            • Judy Mccracken May 18th, 2014 at 23:18

              Yes, we know all about the OHMYGHAZI fund raising scam…. IMHO the American voters are sick of folks like you promoting the same old chit…day in day out…… hosted by the car alarm salesman, Issa…”step away from the OHMYGAHZI”……. however, even your own party is sick of Darrell and his other brother Darrell and have appointed a new circus master, little McCauley Culkin, Trey Gowdy…… we’ll see how his “trial” works out for you all…..

              • Ennaxor May 19th, 2014 at 13:42

            Think again liberal..Think again…polls prove you wrong.

            gallop poll..

            Most Agree That Both IRS and Benghazi Deserve Further Investigation

            Most Americans agree that both of these situations are serious enough to warrant continuing investigation, with little difference in views of the two — 74% for the IRS matter and 69% for Benghazi.

            Americans place similar importance on these two issues despite the administration’s appearing to give more weight to the IRS situation. The Obama administration has acknowledged the seriousness of the IRS situation, going so far as to fire the acting head of the IRS as a result, while being more critical of the continuing focus on the way it handled the aftermath of the Benghazi crisis. However, Obama on Wednesday released a long series of emails relating to the development of talking points after the crisis and Thursday asked Congress to increase embassy funding worldwide.

            are you one of the democarts paid troll?

            • AnthonyLook May 31st, 2014 at 13:18

              Seriously, a Fox poll. Go to the corner, you’re on time out.

      • jack May 31st, 2014 at 09:12

        better check your stats..And maybe this isn’t for the American public maybe its for the families who want answers..Watch cnn and listen to the families ..They want it..

        • AnthonyLook May 31st, 2014 at 13:30

          Sorry Jack, even though you trolls are working overtime looking for comments written as long ago as 21 days and more. Your tactics won’t work.. You watch too much Fox and rely on their poll. It seems not even Darrell Issa even wants to hear from Kerry now, and as time goes on you will begin to notice that the Republicans will rush the investigation because they already know they have nothing. If they milk it, their failure will look even more personal than their Obamacare failure.

    • Judy Mccracken May 10th, 2014 at 22:17

      Pelosi received calls from the FAMILY….. how idiotic is that? and btw, Food Stamps are good for the economy….. they are spent back into the local stores and not saved….but of course you know that….

      • John Tarter May 10th, 2014 at 23:35

        Then EVERYONE should receive food stamps, right? Hey, why not just give everyone $50,000 dollars a year of taxpayer funds as that would help the economy too. (I see economics is not your strong suit)

        • Judy Mccracken May 18th, 2014 at 23:11

          Nobody said that smart ass…..the topic was….. FS going back into the economy….. and your complaint would be what? I know what would help the economy…..NOT using my taxes to pay for Walmart/McDonald or Targets employees…… seeing tht economics is your strong suit… what’s the economics of MY taxes paying walmart in food stamp’s which they also get a subsidy for….?… how does that figure into your economic plan?
          83% goes to kids/vets/elderly
          900,000 to Vets… how does that translate into EVERYONE….

          WM’s a double dipper… resp for employees being on FS’s then they get subsidies for the use of the same FS”s…….good economics, eh?

      • Ennaxor May 11th, 2014 at 22:43

        If that were true Judy the economy would be booming. There are more people on food stamps today than any time in history. All that funding just flowing into the economy. I think your logic is flawed.

        • Ylrebmahs May 16th, 2014 at 20:30

          Took the words out of my mouth….

        • Judy Mccracken May 18th, 2014 at 23:01

          Booming….really booming, eh?….. as if the whole country is on food stamps….. booming, food stamps the answer to everything…. folks on FS’s buy food, put that money right back into the economy…not in the cayman bank accts……what is so hard to understand?… everyone in the country is not on food stamps, although the right wing wants you to believe that……

          Why are so many folks on food stamps?… military families use them to survive, WHY?…. elderly because they have a very small, if any, retirement….Walmart employees, because they are among the working poor who are not paid a decent wage so they require FS’s…..that we pay for…

          What do you think these folks do with FS’s….if not put them back into the economy?….WHAT?

          • Ennaxor May 19th, 2014 at 13:38

              • Ennaxor May 19th, 2014 at 23:35

                And silly me for thinking the economy being in the tank for 6 years was putting people on food stamps. You pull thoughts out of your rear end and think nobody will see that it’s just crap. Who do you think pays for the food stamps before they are put back into the economy? I think it may be a wash at best. It is certainly not an economy builder like you think it is.

                • Judy Mccracken May 26th, 2014 at 23:57

THE ECONOMY is surviving by the efforts of the Pres…. and him alone…..while Congress is at a 5% approval, guess your one of the 5%…… and while they were off 229 DAYS in 2013 doing the people’s business and trying to restart the economy your whining about……they were thinking about ways to stall it….

    Ive watched the families speak on CNN they been begging for this to be investigated..Mr Stevens father even hire and investigator and has gather info on his own and been working with Issa on this..They demand answers..Smiths mother was on CNN the other night and didn’t have any good words about Hillary..She even canceled her speech in calif college cause they were protesting her over Beghanzi.. If the dems had notihng to hide why try so hard to convince a nation they don’t? Why not let the investigation clear them..? And why not ask democrats why they never once investigated all the claims they say bush and chenney did? why they sitting on their dead asses and not bringing people to justice? why cause they would incrimidate themselves and lies they tell us would be just that lies..They cant blow their own cover liberals..So why ask us why no one has ever called an investigation in Irag war and all other attacks..Not our fault nor gops for their lack of bringing jusitice to those they claim did wrong..Thats all on them no one else after all this is their job..They raise hell about all the injustice in this nation but what do they do about it and who they hold accountable for it..? No one they continue to bitch and maon and groan and yell about it but do nothing ..When will democrats hold people accountable liberals? When will they finally do the job they say needs to be done? when will they bring justice to all those men and women killed in this war they claim was unjust? Why ask us or the gop ? whats the democrats job? where do they fit into this picture? Keep burying yourselves with all your excuses when its no ones fault but your for not holding your party up to do their damn jobs and stop the corruption and fraud and lies you so claim leads to all this mess and war..Tell your democrats to grow some balls and do their damn job as law makers and keepers of the law..If you cant quit bitching and moaning when no ones held accountable..Its just as mush your faults.

    Here liberals Gallup poll..

    TELL US AGAIN HOW THE AMERICAN PUBLIC THINKS ITS A WASTE OF TIME?

      Jack;

      Here liberals Gallup poll..

      _____________

      So what?

      Ask people how much they actually know about the issues.

      In 2003 CSM poll; 51% supported the war on Iraq, but 45 % said all or most of the 9/11 hijackers were Iraqi.

      That changed in time.

      The reason for the investigations is so that the public assumes there is something there.

      That was the point of the US attorney firing scandal; You investigate your opponent, and the public assumes there MUST be something wrong.

      Ask if thy can put it into perspective with;

      Beirut?

      And the REAL IRS scandals of the Bush administration, that got no coverage;

      Thisisn’t the first time the IRS has been in hot water for meddling in the politics
      of nonprofits. And if past is prelude, the Obama administration may have a
      years-long scandal on its hands.

      In
      2004, the NAACP was hit with an audit over accusations of improper political
      activity for criticizing the Bush administration.

      IRS targeted Church in 2005;

      In2004, a preacher at All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena, Calif., delivered
      an anti-war sermon. The 3,500-member church found itself under investigation,
      but was able to beat back the agency after hiring high-powered
      Washington attorneys and soliciting support from conservative and liberal
      religious groups.

      In 2004,
      the Wall Street Journal reported that the IRS audited Greenpeace at the request of Public Interest Watch, a group that’s funded by
      Exxon- Mobil.

      The Bush IRS Collected Political Affiliation Data on Taxpayers;

      In 2006, acontractor hired by the IRS collected party affiliation via a search of voter
      registration rolls in a laundry list of states: Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado,
      Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New
      Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina,
      Texas, Utah and Wisconsin. This begs the obvious question: why? Why would the
      IRS need voter registration and party affiliation information?
