College Student Sues Glenn Beck For Defamation
A Saudi Arabian man is suing Glenn Beck for defamation. 20-year-old Abdulrahman Alharbi has filed a federal lawsuit in response to the conservative host’s on-air allegation that Alharbi was “the money man” behind the Boston Marathon bombings, as Beck referred to him.
Alharbi attends college in the Boston area and was injured during the bombings. Questioned by authorities at the hospital, they later determined he was unconnected to the attack. Alharbi says Beck’s comments “substantially and severely damaged” his reputation and contributed to vicious online messages accusing him of terrorism and murder.
Beck’s allegations were based on news reports surfacing days after the bombing. The New York Post was the first to label Alharbi as a suspect in the Boston bombings.
