Controversial Jeopardy Champ Loses, Internet Reacts

Ken Jennings and Jeopardy purists can finally exhale. Arthur Chu (aka King Arthur) was dethroned last night by challenger Diana Peloquin. Chu outraged many fans of the long running game show by using an unconventional strategy. Rather than working categories one at a time and from top to bottom Chu veered all over the board often starting with the more difficult questions with bigger payoffs. This kept his opponents off balance and sent viewers into a tizzy.

In this internet age his reign as Champion was detailed and dissected in great detail. Some saw Chu as a hero, bringing life to a slumbering television relic. Other cast him as a villain, needlessly breaking a cherished game show tradition. Chu himself took to twitter last night to “live tweet” his demise. Although his approach to the game was seen by some as overly aggressive, in the end he showed himself to be a good sport in defeat.

The Chu Chu Train may have stopped running for now but King Arthur won’t go silently into the night. Chu of course will return for the Jeopardy Tournament of Champions in the months and years ahead and tonight he will take questions from friends and foes alike tonight at 8 PM (Eastern) on a Reddit AMA.
