Some Things Are Sacred: Drug Dealers Wouldn’t Sell On Sabbath

Sadly, the fact that the head of the drug gang strictly observed the Jewish Sabbath will not keep him from doing hard time.

A drug dealer who was part of an observant Jewish drug crew that closed shop on the Sabbath was sentenced to five years in prison Tuesday.

Eduard Sorin, 38, previously copped to drug possession and to having a loaded sawed-off shotgun.

Sorin and his co-defendants – who pushed heroin, cocaine and oxycodone – sent texts to customers indicating that they would be closed for Shabbat and that sales would have to be made before sundown, authorities said.

“We are closing 7:30 on the dot and we will reopen saturday 8:15 so if u need anything you have 45mins to get what you want,” a text sent on April 12 from one of the dealers said.

Sorin, who worked out of a Bedford Ave. apartment in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, will also be supervised for five years after his release. The crew had at least 23,000 pills worth about $460,000, according to the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor.
