How far would you go to protest the rising price of college tuition? A student at the University of Utah paid his tuition solely in one-dollar bills. Luq Mughal says he traveled to several different banks to collect the 2,000 one-dollar bills. He brought the cash to campus in a metal case Tuesday, the deadline for spring semester payment.

The large public university has an estimated tuition price of $23,554 for a resident living on campus and $38,862 for non-residents of Utah. The 21-year-old student feels luckier than most, as he receives a discount since his father works at the school.

By no means am I the saddest story on campus. There’s a lot of people here just as bad and probably worse. The people making the prices are not actually aware of how hard it is on the students.

College Board reports the average financial aid package at the University of Utah is $14,194 a year, above the 2012 national average for undergraduate students. $13,218.
