Those Who Caused And Favor Gov’t Shutdown March Against Gov’t Shutdown

A supposedly non-partisan but actually conservative group marched on DC Sunday to underscore that monuments are closed because of the shutdown. You would think Republicans wouldn’t want to remind you, given that they’re the ones responsible for it. Also participating, per the picture here, are southern Confederate racists. Notice how they had to insert the “s” in “respect” after the fact.  Nicely done!

It was led by Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), as well as former governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin [who says the shutdown is good because it shows “how irrelevant the federal government” is].

The group echoed Ronald Reagan’s challenge to Mikhail Gorbechev, chanting “[t]ear down these walls!” as they encountered “barricades” including orange cones, striped saw-horses and three-foot-tall portable aluminum gates. “God Bless America” was also sung as they marched.

A handful of tractor-trailers blared their horns as the group made their way down 17th Street.

Although the “Million Vet March on the Memorial” bills itself as a non-partisan group, all those leading it had spoken or attended speeches as the Value Voters Summit, which began on Friday and concludes today.

John at AmericaBlog puts it in perspective.

Point of fact: Neither Palin nor Cruz have actually served in the military, and both support the GOP government shutdown which closed the WWII memorial. But don’t let that get in the way of a good visual…

The Tea Party “vets,” led by Palin and Cruz, are apparently so outraged at themselves for shutting down the federal government, that they’re now protesting the President for listening to them.
