Price Of Stamps To Increase

The United States Postal Service wants to increase the rate of first class stamps three cents to $.49.  So, what they in effect will do is drive more people to email and to their smart phones.

The USPS said the new prices would take effect on Jan. 26, 2014. Highlights include:

• Letters (1 oz.) — 3-cent increase to 49 cents
• Letters additional ounces — 1-cent increase to 21 cents
• Postcards — 1-cent increase to 34 cents

The USPS Board of Governors Chairman Mickey Barnett, in a letter to customers, said the Postal Service was seeking the price changes because of its “precarious financial condition” and because of the uncertainty surrounding postal reform legislation.
