Sandy Hook School Assassin’s Guns and Ammo Seller Pleads Guilty
David Laguerica, an East Windsor, CT gun dealer who sold guns to the mother of the Newtown shooter, pleaded guilty in federal court to violating federal gun laws.
According to the government, Laguercia had a federal firearms license from 2005 until it was revoked in December 2012.
Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents raided Riverview Sales in December 2012 and found about 300 examples of false or missing information in Riverview’s acquisition and disposition records, according to the government. The investigation also turned up two instances of firearms being transferred to buyers before required federal background checks were completed, officials said.
Riverview Sales also failed to report the theft of firearms within 48 hours, and did not report several instances of multiple sales of handguns to the same person, the government said..
The ATF begun proceedings to revoke or suspend Laguercia’s federal firearms license during the summer of 2012 because of record-keeping issues, Altchiler said. After a hearing concluded in August, Laguercia didn’t hear from the government until after the Dec. 14 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. Then the ATF called Laguercia about a handgun the store sold to Nancy Lanza, the gunman’s mother, and Laguercia told ATF officials that the store also had sold her a Bushmaster AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.
