Allen West’s Troops Have Plan To Get Him Back In Office

Supporters of Conservative firebrand Allan West are engaged in an effort to redraw Florida Congressional District 22 to benefit the former Congressman. A new website saveallenwest.com along with an open letter to the Florida Committees on Reapportionment by the Broward County GOP Chairman argue that the Republican-led redistricting of 2010 is unfair to West and should be revisited.

The argument over the legitimacy of Florida’s redistricting is not new, although the claim that a conservative has been the victim is somewhat unique. The redrawing of the districts after Republican victories in Florida have been seen as benefiting the GOP by a wide variety of political observers.

In fact, a coalition of non profits are currently challenging the congressional reapportionment plan to the Florida Supreme Court. They would like to depose state lawmakers and legislative staff who participated in the redistricting to determine what political motivations if any were involved in the decision.

But Allen West supporters see their favorite son as the victim and they will battle to get a re-carving of district boundaries to benefit the former Congressman. Naturally their hope is that the Tea Party darling suits up for another run and these efforts will bring more success than last years failed effort at reelection.
