Minnesota Becomes 12th State To Approve Gay Marriage
Governor Mark Dayton signed the bill to sounds of cheers at the State Capitol.
The signature completes a dramatic shift in the state that just six months ago was considering whether to define marriages as for heterosexual couples only. Voters rejected the proposed amendment to the state constitution in November, fueling the push for gay marriage.
“What a day for Minnesota,” Dayton said at the ceremony. “And what a difference a year and an election can make.”
