Signs Of Romney

I was driving through a middle class neighborhood today and was shocked by what I saw sprouting from a few front lawns: Romney/Ryan campaign signs.

I was instantly overcome by two questions:

1. Will I do serious jail time for absconding with said signs?

2. How can any levelheaded, middle class person vote for a man like Mitt Romney?

Thankfully, I didn’t stick around long enough to find out the answer to the first question.  As for the second, I was stumped.  Stumped until I got home and caught the tail end of The American President on cable.

As the President (D), Michael Douglas says, “We have serious problems to solve, and we need serious people to solve them. And whatever your particular problem is, I promise you, Bob Rumson (R) is not the least bit interested in solving it. He is interested in two things and two things only: making you afraid of it and telling you who’s to blame for it. That, ladies and gentlemen, is how you win elections. You gather a group of middle-aged, middle-class, middle-income voters who remember with longing an easier time, and you talk to them about family and American values and character.”

You don’t think this is the truth?  You think Romney actually cares about the 47%? Then let me quote another Aaron Sorkin movie for you, “You can’t handle the truth.”
