You Can’t Make This Stuff Up
On our Friday night show, Dick Morris put forth the idea that the Clintons wanted to lose South Carolina, especially along racial lines, so they could then run a racially divided campaign. I pointed out that it’s the Clinton haters who are playing racially divided politics by continually accusing the Clintons of manipulation.
And if you want to see racial politics, take a look at the Jesse Helms (for whom Morris once worked) in his 1990 race against Harvey Gantt. Helms ran an ad called “Hands”, where you see a close-up of white hands crumpling a peace of paper as a narrator says, “You needed that job, but they have it to a minority.”
This, among other things, is what our viewers and listeners are saying to me this weekend.
